I think she needs MrG as her saviour lol, i think work is stressing her out abit, and the fact that shes now 40 and still living with her mom is making her VERY depressed since all of her friends have moved out/got bfs/got married/had kids, think shes stuck in a bit of a rut :/

hmmm no mortgage, no kids, no responsibilitie,s no nagging boyfriend or husband to look after - just some of the positives.rawr_xoxo wrote:I think she needs MrG as her saviour lol, i think work is stressing her out abit, and the fact that shes now 40 and still living with her mom is making her VERY depressed since all of her friends have moved out/got bfs/got married/had kids, think shes stuck in a bit of a rut :/
I get like that sometimes, I'm still in the same crummy flat, still single, still not earing enough for a mortgage, all my mates are settled down with kids etc and I never will as I'm too old now. She's got plenty of time so if she could think of the positives and move on, it may help her

Re: Weight Watchers
If your Mum has depression its a completely different story but if shes in a bit of a rut and wants us to help to motivate her we are happy to help. Sometimes people eat because they are fed up and just get into the habit of eating the same thing and drinking too much but it can happen because we actually enjoy eating and just eat the wrong thing. I fit into the latter group; its pure heaven to me having a box of Maltesers, a glass of skimmed milk and watching a period drama so I just need nagging to keep it to one day a week not because I'm feeling low where a different approach is needed.valda wrote:hmmm no mortgage, no kids, no responsibilitie,s no nagging boyfriend or husband to look after - just some of the positives.rawr_xoxo wrote:I think she needs MrG as her saviour lol, i think work is stressing her out abit, and the fact that shes now 40 and still living with her mom is making her VERY depressed since all of her friends have moved out/got bfs/got married/had kids, think shes stuck in a bit of a rut :/

Your Mum has you who cares so thats a huge plus and its sad that work is stressing her out, is it the job itself or her colleagues? Friends don't judge you on your marital status or where you live, I have an eclectic mix of friends who I value as individuals and would be lost without. Listen to the positives that Valda has listed.

Re: Weight Watchers
Work didnt seem to be such a problem, i think its mixed in with the alcohol, she was fine before, then she started drinking alot more, cause she started wanting to really move out as her mom was getting to her a bit(nagging her all the time, still treating her like shes 5 when shes 40 etc) and now its developed into "everyone gives me dirty looks", "everyone at work b****es about me all the time" "everyone hates me" which i think is paranoia coming from the drinking :/
shes been saying about starting afresh this year, and ive been encouraging her as much as i can
but shes very eager to give up which isnt good, we were going to the gym tonight, but shes going to the dentist in abit, and feels like thats an excuse to not go to the gym anymore :S
im not sure liking eating is so much the problem, usuakky she skips breakfast and lunch, hardly eating anything, which is possibly why it leads to an 'over-indulgence' but before we were doing healthy stir frys with stuff she liked, she just said it was too repetitive, even though she has the same thing from the takeaway every time she orders.
i dont understand whats up really :S

Re: Weight Watchers
Before I get to Rawr_oxo post, which am devoting some time towards it in a seperate post as that is probably the most important question of all, motivation. Motivation is key to any goal and I have made long posts about it several months ago, others may recall. But that's coming up nextDiane65 wrote:How about our motivational leader I trust that you are being good getting prepared for the Paris marathon, but where on earth is your sponsor sheet ?TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:OK ok forget the dres! I admit that sounds bloody Victorian. Well I dunno, think of that lovely scarf you wanna fit into...no that doesnt work. Jeans! Anyway, keep it going girls you're doing great as it is(please add it to your signature then we can get sponsoring you)
Right now, I want to just get a an incident off my chest today which indirectly answers half of Dianes question on my progress. Well, I got attacked by a bloody alsation while I was running around the park today! He was actually on a leash, but as I ran past, the dog suddenly turned to me and clasp his/her jaws on the side of my waist, his teeth didnt dig into me deeply, to be honest it was a sort of half hearted bite. I dunno, mightve been playful or it realised it was too restriceted by being on a leash. I do know that if it did bite me one year earlier it would have had nice chunk of handlebar meat, though low in protein and high in fat. I didnt stop because I was intent on running as far as I can possibly go to basically test my fitness and I suppose now an added incentive to get as far away from that bloody dog as possible.
But I am a little shaken by it because I see a lot of dogs roaming freely in the park off their leash. I do know never to look at a dog as that can provoke them. But sometimes they just still go after you, I know because I was attacked by one as a kid even though I obeyed my dad's commands to never run away from or look into a dog. The irony is that I do love dogs, they are so loyal to their owners but I am at the same time quite scared of them too.
So How was my run? Well, I did a half Marathon! Though my time was 2 hours and 1 minute which means my fitness has deterioted (my previous best is 1 hour 50mins) but hey its to be expected from all of us what with the Christmas obstascles and the snow. I'd like to reassure you, I'll be training much more harder now for my Paris Marathon in under 4 months :)
I had my Runkeeper on during this run, which shows my full run and speed. If any of you have an android or Iphone, please join in on my team so we can motivate each other. From walks to jogs to running, you can also enter othe cardio activities. If you join in I can even set you targets/challenges to go for :)

Diane, you're absolutely, right, I should start my sponsor thing, I'm robbing the charity of donators like yourself and others here. I was getting a bit selfish and just thinking about me, thanks I'll take that as a deserved slap in the face :)

Re: Weight Watchers
Oh no that must have been hideous for you and so frightening; you are probably in shock now so please look after yourself and keep posting so that we know that you are ok, its amazing how your adrenaline keeps you going at the time and your endorphins were probably flying around your body with the buzz of exercise and now they have come crashing down so you will feel a bit rubbish. Is your tetanus up to date? If not I would still get one even if it doesn't appear to have broken the skin. Have a nice warm bath and have a rest as you have been through it today. I know I'm nagging but its only because I care!
On a positive note your time today was fabulous, it doesn't necessarily mean that your fitness has deteriorated the weather conditions do have an impact on your time; Paris had better watch out.

Re: Weight Watchers
Tetanus? Didnt know what that was! So the answer is no, I'm not up to dateDiane65 wrote:Oh no that must have been hideous for you and so frightening; you are probably in shock now so please look after yourself and keep posting so that we know that you are ok, its amazing how your adrenaline keeps you going at the time and your endorphins were probably flying around your body with the buzz of exercise and now they have come crashing down so you will feel a bit rubbish. I had warm bath after the run and I do try to have one every week or go into a spa if available. (in case anyone is jumping to conclusions about my hygene, I shower on the other days, sheesh!) As Diane rightly recommends, it maximise the effects of a workout as the muscles repair itself and re-inforces a stronger binding. And I'm sure everyone knows the other relaxation benefits from it.
Your're right about the cold weather, Diane, it might have been a factor :) But I do need to step up a gear.
Well its new years everyone. We are naturally in a reflective, comtemplative and celebatory mood over this special weekend. This is the height of our powers to get the ball rolling on achieving your dreams and goals. I want to see us all achieve them! Dont have any doubts of wether you can do them, you can. Trust me, you can. As Marty Mcfly said, this is heavy...no wait that wasnt it...if you put your mind on it, you can achieve anything...or something like that.
Reflection: 2010
Those of you who have been reading, contributing, posting or simply just reading on this thread, please give yourself a pat on the back. We have all been brilliant, i want you all to throw humbleness out of the window and proclaim yourself as a great achiever. Even if you are struggling to think of what you have achieved this year, I will tell you that by simply reading this thread of pure positivity and golden encouragements and advice from the contributors, is an achievement itself because you gained knowledge or the very least a positive vibe from it. So you are ALL winners. Now, for the new year use that knowledge, add to it, and pursue your goals and let no obstacle get the better of you, climb those obstacles, reward yourself each time you overcome it.
So lets look at some of our achievers this year which many of you know, I have been recording on a spreadsheet, which was so much fun and you know, its a treasure to have on my hard drive, I want more of these treasures. So its my solemn promise to bring that back for the new year.

Just look at everyone's progress on there, its breathtaking. And not everyone is on there, please post and tell us your achievements, it inspires us. This thread is called weightwatchers but its fused into something more than that, its about goals, health and fitness. But most important of all we've played a big part in each other's progress through our group encouragement and advice. I've said it plenty of times and I'll say it again, I couldnt have got as far as I did, without you. I think the above chart speaks for itself. We will start a new one, with new goals and hopefully newcomers
And yes, watching as many free film previews as possible qualifies as a goal but here is a challenge for you. Every goal must incorporate and enhanced healthier element to it. So if you were drinking coke and eating popcorn at these film previews, you will instead drink a bottle of water during the film. On the Sunday morning previews, you will walk as much of the way to (or from) the cinema as possible. Me, I have a marathon to train for so I will run from the cinema. I'm going to set you all film related health challenges and I hope you will report back here on your activities :)
Have a Happy New Year all, when that bell strikes I'll be first thinking selfishly of the goals ahead of me, and secondly, still selfishly, I'll be thinking of the goals YOU will achieve in 2011. Why would that be selfish of me? Because I sure as hell dont want to be achieving all on my own
