OK this is the latest one of my Bollywood excursions. They never fail to surprise me even if they occasionally do disappoint somewhat.
This film was a surreal mix of daring heist, puerile slapstick humour, bizarrely strange animation sequences, the usual gorgeous looking Bollywood style actress in a variety of costumes engaged in ambitious song and dance routines with other cast members.
Dull? it certainly wasn't - Something for everyone? probably - Believable? Not at all - Good fun, entertaining and escapist? Definitely!
6 out of 10.

Have you watched Guzaarish Preston? Any good? It made it into the UK Top 10 box office when it came out...

Re: Tees Maar Khan
I've only ever seen a handful of Bollywood films a_person. Unfortunately, Guzaarish wasn't amongst them. It's been out since mid November 2010 I understand. The genre seems to be in quite short supply at my local cinemas which is a shame because I like these films on the whole.a_person wrote:Have you watched Guzaarish Preston? Any good? Here's a plot summary for it which I've dug up, and also a couple of links to the IMDB info page and the trailer video for anyone who is interested. The film seems to deal with a serious subject and it looks like it may be quite good. I'd certainly go and see it if I got the chance to. Like all my film viewing, it would have to be free of course.

Ethan Mascarenhas, formerly the world's greatest magician, has been quadriplegic since a performance went wrong 14 years before. For the past 12 years Ethan's health has been relatively stable, largely due to the relentless dedication of his nurse, Mrs Sofia D'Souza. He lives and works at his home, spreading new magic to millions of people with his irrepressible wit and spirit through books he has written and his radio show. But now his internal organs are failing. To avoid permanent hospitalization and machine life-support, Ethan petitions a court to be legally allowed to die. Ethan's request - his 'guzaarish' - shocks everyone in his world, but especially threatens his relationship with Sofia, who is the core of his existence. Will Ethan's petition succeed? How will Sofia respond?
