Saw Candy Cabs there yesterday, a new three part comedy-drama for BBC1, inspired by a real life ladies cab company in Warrington, called Pink Ladies. The audience was made up of journalists and cast members and friends, and us, twitter winners. The guy in front of us was busy writing notes and taping the Q&A, represented by quite an ensemble of director, producers, writer, creator, and cast members Jo Joyner (Tanya from Eastenders) and Paul Kaye (Two Thousand Acres of Sky). They hadn't seen the finished product so were quite excited by the screening.
It did feel very much like a BBC TV programme and the first episode packed a lot in establishing the characters and the storyline. It was quite enjoyable and funny about the lives and loves of a group of women setting up an all female cab company. And there was a cliffhanger, so I am a little hooked. And Paul Kaye is always interesting to watch. I would give it 7/10
After the screening and Q&A, we followed the cast members out of the screening room, not realising it lead to their private area, where there were food laid out for them! Took the opportunity to speak to them briefly, got their autograph and a photo! They loved all the attention!
