G*mania at the Palace Theatre Manchester, what can I say except when it was good, it was very good.

However when it was bad, it was cringeworthy. Think this review say's it all

http://www.whatsonstage.com/index.php?p ... 1297836075

To be fair though, I would add Anthony Kavanagh ( grease is the word finalist) as being a highlight ( apart from when he did a solo of poker face) voice not strong enough and rubbish arrangement. Trevor Francis ( last choir standing finalist) was definately the best there. His voice was amazing! Glad he did several solo spots. Also, there were four professional dancers in the show who were really good to watch.

Even though SFF gave tickets away there were loads of empty seats, we were in middle stalls, and the circle was mostly empty.
The two 12 year old girls I took liked it though and got into the swing of things, singing, arm waving etc.

Looking at the poster outside, G*mania is doing a nationwide tour of theatres, so I think we may well see more SFF codes on this one.

Glad I didn't p*y but ok for free.

I am getting seriously annoyed that SFF is giving away tickets only for stand up comedy nowadays.

I couldn't agree more; theatre and concert tickets seem to have completely dried up.

Went to see Brit Wrest Fest as part of the Coming Up Arts festival on the opening night and I was wondering all along what's a wrestling match doing on the opening night of an arts festival? And obivously afterwards I now realise how choreographed everything is in a wrestling match, it was just pure theatre. They had a goodies, the villains, the plot twist, it was interesting especially as it's nothing like anything I've ever seen, but I probably wouldn't p*y to go and see a match. 7/10

I wonder if any of our regular theatre goers can help?

Has anyone been to see, or heard anything about a show called 'Jerusalem - England's Green and Pleasant Land' ?

Hi Andrews,

I am not sure about there being a show but I can think of two things:

"Jerusalem - England's Green and Pleasant Land" is the title of a poem by William Blake and has been set to music by Hubert(?) Parry. It only has two verses, so not long enough for a show, and is often used like a kind of unofficial English national anthem on the last night of the Proms and the whole audience joins in. Listen for yourself:

And then there was a play on in London a few years ago called "Jerusalem" with Mark Rylance in it but as far as I know it did not have a subtitle. Several of my friends went and recommend it very highly but I didn't manage to get tickets so can't say anything from own experience.

Hope that helps

Why don't you subscribe to the topic so you don't miss out? I have entered the comp to see British Sea Power, not sure when the comp closes but I've still got my fingers crossed :cross:
