Cheers Mr G (although you really SHOULD be called Mr Motivator!). o/ Good luck for Sunday! :cross:

I went to see I Am Number 4 last night & had a Diet Coke and an Atkins chocolate bar, 141 cals so not too bad. I'm not doing Atkins at the mo, it was a freebie. I like the idea of the nuts and grapes though - might try that next week!
Wish I could work up some enthusiasm for exercise though, I've just wanted to hibernate since winter started at the end of November. I used to go to Salsa & Bellydance classes and loved them but sadly numbers dwindled and they've both stopped
My OH & I had planned to go for long walks last weekend round the local country parks but the weather was lousy. Roll on the lighter nights so we might be able to get out a bit after work. Anyway, 1st weigh-in tomorrow. Here's hoping for the best! :cross:

Ms Thrifty wrote:Good luck with the TW half marathon, Mr G - the scenery is fabulous (some of my favourite walking country along that route) - but you probably won't have time to notice! Very hilly in places, too, but should stand you in good stead for the Leith Hill run the following week. Wish I could come and cheer you on...

Edit: hey, I see the next one includes a "Wife Carrying Race" with beer as the prize. How healthy is that?!
Thanks Ms Thrifty, yeah, I just noticed that "Wife Carrying Race" too. Its just before the main race. Anyone wants to be my wife? You'll have to train hard though as I am a bit on the heavy side :P

OMG I just now looked at the virtual course for Leith Hill Run ...What the hell have I got my self into!?! I'm terrified now.... 8O

Good stuff, i eat brunch bars, they are delicous. Another idea for healthy snacks is graze boxes. I get them sent to my office so when i feel like a bit of a munch i can do it healthily, their web address is www.graze.com, if you use this code 46DLRLX you'll get a sample sent for free but make sure you cancel your card details if you don't want to continue getting them delivered.

You sound much more motivated than me although i am having pinapple chunks as my sweet after lunch today o/

i tried the Graze box, but even though I marked down what I liked, I seemed to get the same stuff, with not much variety. Also it came too late for me, so I gave it up. Instead, I bring in Carrots and Cherry tomatoes, to work.

And, Wasabi beans
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Yeah it doesn't work for everyone, i only get one a month although they were doing a deal on detox boxes so i got them a little more regular recently.

Carrots and cherry toms good, add cucumber and a bit of pepper, i was bringing that in for my lunch at the start of the year but i've not been organised enough to get the shopping in at the weekends. Inspired to get back to it now.

Ran the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon this morning...Jesus, that was the toughest run in my life (well the one year i started up running!), the hills were murderous and one in particular felt like climbing a stairway to heaven. In fact if my heart rate got any higher, I probably would have been heading up there. I gave it all I got though, and even though the body was begging me to just walk up the hill, I carried on running. I finieshed with a time of 1 hour 58mins which I cant believe I managed as I really thought at one point I aint gonna make it! Thank god it didnt rain, we seem to have got lucky and missed it as it peltered down afterwards though it was freezing like heck. But I made it to the finish line and....Dame Kelly Holmes was there to hang our race medals around our necks!!! Awesome! Had no idea she would be there. There were 2500 runners which made for a great atmoshere and loads of supporters cheering us on at the sidelines. Love these running events. We got a goody bag containing a great quality tech running t shirt, magazines and loads of sugary eateries that makes me wonder if they actually want me to continue running again if I ate all of that nonsense. These so called High energy gels and sweets are so sugar concentrated, yet runners eat this stuff (not me). Amazing what marketing does because this stuff is comeplete unhealthy rubbish. I rather have that graze box you girls were talking about ;)

I wish I could have stuck around for the complementary massages, lunch and presentations but my friends had to drive back to London. But the Tumbridge Wells is a very very scenic place just as Ms Thrifty described. Some parts even looked like the Shire in Lord of the Rings complete with humped bridge and horses wearing...fancy dresses...what the? Something strange was going on there but cof course I couldnt stop to find out!

Well next week's Half Marathon in Leith Hill is apparantly even worse...thanks for the heads up Ms Thrifty...unfortuntaly it does not elleviate my terror! I'm going to have to do some serious hill work this week to prepare. Oh btw I'm impress you walked that TW route o/
