Re: Frankenstein Live
I'm aware there was a listing for 6pm on 14th, however I was confused by your email, when you said "As it's not in their system they might not even exchange for proper tickets, just show you to the screen". I've re-read your email and I have telephoned Greenwich, who have advised that it is not sold out, however tickets will not be available until the actual day of the screening on a first come first serve basis.

Re: Frankenstein Live
The screening is booked out on the Timesplus booking system. My email was not confusing. Usually all Picturehouse screenings are on their computer system and they require you to exchange any printouts for proper tickets so they have on their system how many tickets they have exchanged. There was no need to call the Picturehouse.

Re: Frankenstein Live
Yes it is. I have tickets. I was enquiring about exchanging the printouts for proper tickets before the screening which turns out not to be necessary but they gave me a fright at first when they insisted they knew nothing about the screening.Kaybeelon wrote:The last time I looked it was sold out.

Apologies. I said I re-read your email. It was I who was confused not your email.
I phoned the venue for my own benefit.

Re: Frankenstein Live
An outstanding production from start to finish (the rain, the lighting, the industrial representation, you name it). Saw Cumberbatch as the monster (which is meant to be the best of the two monster roles). I was spellbound from the bell ringing at the start. Although the feed was interrupted more times than I care to account for, even this brought its own added element to the script. For instance, a character asked something along the lines of "Would you care to repeat that?", and after the link being cut off for most part of Frankenstein's speech at that point, it just echoed our thoughts in the cinema, and everyone was in an uproar. This just added to the humour already there, and it relieved the audience's frustration at missing entire scenes. At one point, the link went entirely, but I still managed to enjoy it thoroughly. I've never seen anything like this in my life, and I felt privileged to have seen it in the cinema, but could only imagine the atmosphere in the theatre - it must be magical.
I did, however, feel a little sorry for the actors/actresses sweltering under the heat. At one point I thought dear Victor was going to melt. The poor thing.

Re: Frankenstein Live
The Greenwich Picturehouse filled up only slowly, with OH making up the front of the queue, followed by canadian_turtle. Ejwrank, bevvy and hdaniel82 were there too. No ticket exchange needed and the last row stayed almost empty, apart from that couple that came in late, proceeded to bump in to OH who sat at the top of the stairs, then groped my knee trying to find their whereabouts. Why do latecomers insist on bumping their way through the last row instead of taking the first seats available further down? Bloody people.
This wasn't really our thing. I found the beginning quite slow-going and boring and I actually drifted off for a while due to my tiredness and the comfy seat. It got better in the middle and Benedict Cumberbatch was terrific as the monster (was the blind man Twister from Lark Rise to Candleford?) but all in all it didn't captivate me. OH made a few choice comments afterwards which maybe were undeserved as I am sure it's a great production - just not really our thing. I was glad when it was over at 8.05pm, after the display had announced the running time to 8.35pm - wonder what we missed?
