Been busy, just catching up on the schedule....

Are u kidding me they picked Anoymous for a Gala Screening?? and W.E.??
I might have to look at Roland Emmerich differently if this turns out to be a masterpiece...

And Sandra Hebron must be in love with George Clooney, every year he has multiple films! This year it's The Descendants and The Ides of March

And I thought We need to talk about Kevin was going to be released in Sept, but I guess not now, as it's in the festival.

Iron Lady not showing at the festival???

The rumour was it might open the festival! http://www.u.tv/entertainment/360-to-op ... 85e6bee486

For sure the surprise film ticket will be the hottest in town if people are expecting Iron Lady or Tin tin (which opens really early at end of Oct)

We Need to Talk About Kevin comes out on the 21st October. As that's only 4 days after it's gala screening I'll probably hold off on that one, unless I win tickets through Time Out (it's their gala). Considering my luck with Time Out screenings in the past though I won't be holding my breath.

Managed to get an initial list of films I want to see down to about 17 or 18 films (crossing off films that come out within a few weeks of their LFF screening). Though I'm hopefully seeing 50/50 next week so that will be one I can cross off the list.

Everything I went to see or wanted to see last year came out in a free preview after the festival so I am a bit cynical this year.

I went to the LFF preview last night at the NFT (Member ballot tickets). It was really interesting and they showed bits of a large variety of films. It was really useful to help choose amongst the over 200 films. Anonymous actually looked quite interesting (plus great CGI of Shakespeare's London and The Globe Theatre). Nanni Moretti's We have a Pope, Snowtown, We Need to Talk about Kevin, The Ides of March, The Kid with a Bike, Terri and The Descendants all looked great from the clips - not so the opening film 360 on the (2 minute) evidence displayed onscreen at least. The clip from the closing film The Deep Blue Sea (with my favourite, Simon Russell Beale) looked excellent but at £30 a ticket and no cheaper matinee performance I'll have to think twice about applying for tickets!

From the festival brochure I'm also really interested in Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights, Carnage, the lovely Benedict Cumberbatch in Wreckers and about 50 more films at least!

The only film out of that lot I'd say may be worth the £30 ticket entry would be The Ides of March, it's got a hell of a lot going for it at the moment :S

The majority of the films at the festival apart from The Deep Blue Sea are available for £7 at matinees. This includes The Ides of March. It's only the opening and closing galas that actually cost £30.

Ahh I see, i don't think I'd go to any of the galas then :P

£7 isn't too bad for the matinees! Cheaper than Big Screen lol

The preview night sounds really great, Tarantinoed! We saw preview footage of Anonymous too at Empire Big Screen and it really made me interested in the movie.

There's quite a few movies I'd like to see but I am not used to p*ying for them 8O Wait until the free screenings start trickling in with the risk that movie won't be shown or shell out £7?

I envy you so much right now at even the possibility of seeing that film soon.

There's a few I'm interested in here, beyond the double Fassbenders, double Clooneys and all three John C. Reilly films, This Must Be The Place, Wild Bill, The Artist, We Have A Pope, Tales Of The Night, Bernie, 50/50, Dark Horse and Martha Marcy May Marlene are the top draws, overall I think I've hit 24 films I want to see, and none of them are the opening or closing night films, which honestly don't seem like interesting choices personally.
Should be a fun few weeks.

Don't be too envious. The screening was full. They did say there might be other screenings later though.
