I'm keen to see this but will have to wait for it to open as though I have the day off, there are just no suitable locations and Sky's is evidently going to be the only preview.

OK I just figured out why the hell I put "Mother" on my Google calendar. All day I tried to figure out what I am supposed to do for mother and even asked her...to which she gleefully responded with a whole string of stuff that I can do for her but I was sure it wasnt any of that as I would have just put that on to do list. Xmas has obviously fried my brains, why did I just put "mother"?. So now I know as I see this thread and with the film starting in 1.5hrs, I'm gonna be there too ;)

Seriously? What the hell was that??

I don't mean the movie of course as I left after 45 minutes so I can't really judge. I just got that the blond girl might have an interesting superpower: orgasms on demand (and without foreplays s'il vous plait!). That was definitely not enough to convince me to stay in this room that was packed of the most insane cinema goers I had the displeasure to witness!
Of course there was the usual fuc*ing loud late comers, munchers; the ones that laugh very LOUD for anything and everything and the ones that speak!!! Those are the worst, they think they are funny and that everybody around will enjoy their cheap jokes and rude comments!
This is not a f*cking pub!

I wonder if I was the only one to walk out!
I arrived at 6.25 and could not see any familiar faces!
(I was at Odeon Holloway)

Sorry to have missed you Celini. We were in second row from the back, me, ejwrank, David and Marialionza.
But I agree Holloway Odeon must be the noisiest cinema ever! Unfortunately, tonight's film is a quiet film and I had to strain to hear the dialogue as the noise around me was so, well, noisy! People left, right and centre just did not know how to be quiet, so much rustling of wrappers and food. I really felt like shouting at one stage "BE QUIET!" like a school teacher.

Luckily, this was such a good film! Really, really enjoyed it. Loved all the twists and turns. Lots of laugh out loud humour. Loved Annette and Jimmy's relationship. Well acted all round by everyone. Thought it was all good! 9/10

I have to admit, there were a couple of girls that were fmuking annoying, laughing at anything. sorry Celini that you experienced even worse.

I made an effort to go see this film, not because its my cup of tea but because I wanted to make sure Weirdfilms dont catch up with my film preview tally!

This turned out be a pretty charming but bittersweet drama with spots of humour that were actually quite hilarious. The film was gentle but had a very nice fluidity with its pacing. I enjoyed all of the actor's performances, all looking top of their game.

The message of regret or lost opportunity are heavily drive from the start. The film seems to have a lot of blatant Christian messages that I wonder if the Christian Media group are actually involved with making this!? I dont object to it, I love religious undertones but i think here it is preached directly at us quite blatantly.

This isnt a film I would seek to watch but I did enjoy it thanks to quality performances and good direction.

I saw this in a quiet Showcase cinema, Paisley. I have to say we enjoyed the story although the initial meeting of 2 of the female characters made me feel very uneasy. In fact, they were HORRIBLE  . . . . the reason for their behaviour became clear as the film progressed . . . the damage they'd had in their early years being at the root of their stories. The introduction of some other mother/child relationships enhanced the film although I did anticipate the ending. The acting was very good and the storyline interesting. It has no big dramatic pieces and just moves along at a steady pace. I'm glad I got tickets to see it! :star:

It wasn't just Holloway. I have never had so many f**king noisy Imbeciles with a capital I around me in the balcony area of the O2. What really annoyed me was that we got there early, even before 6pm, for a 7pm start, and our favourite seats were already taken. It filled up quite a lot but there were plenty of single seats dotted around. Then valda texted me that she was downstairs as they had not let her up, saying it was full. They might not have found 3 adjoining seats, but it wasn't completely full. If at least they had been consistent with this, but there were still people coming in now and then.

Then the film starts and I kid you not, the moment someone opens their mouth to speak, the door opens, a bright light shines in and a group of 5 - 6 latecomers noisily discuss where to sit. They even disturbed us wanting to know about the seats next to us. They had been occupied by coats since we arrived, the owners flitting in and out, but being largely absent. They finally arrived back at 7.15pm, carrying shopping bags!

Then all through the film, people decided to laugh when it wasn't funny and give a running commentary. It was insane.

The film didn't grab me all that much either. For some bizarre reason I had the feeling I had seen it already which is absurd, unless it's a remake of a foreign film or something? No? Just me then. Basically, I thought it was way too long, it was so slow going and meandered along with three different story strands, leaving you to wonder when they would finally come together. This was basically a film about adoption and how the process has changed over the years, about mothers who did or did not want their child, then changed their mind or wanted to find their birth mother/adopted daughter. The Christian overtones also annoyed me, and the speed with which Ella was adopted was astounding, with the nun saying there were no relatives at all, when that wasn't the case. In fact, I found it very astounding how everyone was adopted at birth, whereas here you are apparently told there aren't enough babies to adopt, it takes years to get accepted and you then have the choice between teenagers or adoption abroad.

Also, Naomi Watts' character was a tad strange, you were left wondering whether she was the way she was because she had never known her birth parents (her adoptive parents were never really mentioned), and there were scenes that went nowhere, like with the blind girl, or when she put her knickers in her neighbour's underwear drawer.

6/10

I had to make a really loud Shhhhh! tonight at Edinburgh Wester Hailes...and that was to my mum! Haha. How funny that mother and child went to Mother and Child.

tbh I can't actually remember any humour in this film...and before you ask I did stay awake. Lots of bonking though...almost as much as in Shame. Haha.

I did find the jumping from scene top scene a little confusing. I wondered if the black couple were in the past. Turns out it was all on the same timeline.

I'll give it a 6/10.

Wouldn't p*y to see it. Wouldn't watch it on tv, but it wasn't rubbish either.

May be you saw it on a plane like my OH did! :P

I agree she was strange - and she was not a character I liked but, you did feel sorry for her towards the end.
I think the knickers scene was she wanted the neighbour's wife to find out, and the scene with the blind girl, was that it helped made up her mind to look for her biological mum.
I think there clues about her adoptive parents as they said her father died when she was 10 and she was never close to her mother. She said she had lived alone from age 17 which happened to be the same age she "had her tubes tied"! (Don't know why any doctor would have agreed to this at her age though she did admit it was done over the border . . .down Mexico way?)
