Re: Marley
You rarely get to learn about Bob the man, since hes become such an icon. Here you get to see his generosity, his down to earth attitude and grace but stupidity in succumbing to a curable disease. The film portrays him as many things but it never skirts the truth that he saw himself as just a man, ironic that he became quite the opposite.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
- Beate
- The Modfather (& Three-Time Prediction Master!)

Re: Marley
The Picturehouse people are seriously nice sometimes. I watched this last night with hopeprince's twitter win and they allowed me to choose seats over the phone and then emailed me a ticket I could take directly to the screen door to have it scanned so I avoided the queues completely. I was full of trepidation when I saw it was basement screen 5, but oh my God, they have refurbished it since my last visit and it has now the same lovely red seats you can lean back in plus two-seaters in the back row, bottle holders, a proper incline and a bar that sells overpriced crisps. There is a curtain that is drawn between bar and screening room at the beginning of the film, and one guy (the only guy that needed the loo during the 144 minutes) managed to get tangled up in it while trying to find his way out to the loo - it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time, especially as he then skipped out and back in a way normally only seen in cartoons. I was amazed how full this screening turned out to be and doubly thankful for my email tickets!
The documentary, interspersed with a lot of reggae music was interesting, especially as I knew next to nothing about Marley's life. There are worse ways to spend an evening than snuggled up in a two-seater in a warm cinema watching a film with a lot of music in it. I didn't even nod off.
