Re: The Lucky One
You lot should've been at a Twilight panel that had all the actors in attendance and only showed advanced footage of the main guys shirtless. My ears were ringing from the screeching...a_person wrote:You should have been at the Hunger Games premiere. Re: The Lucky One
I guess we all know what to expect from a Nicholas Sparks novel/film. It is going to be schmaltzy and predictable and the film will be sumptuously shot in stunning scenery. People are going to say things no one truly should be found saying in real life, and true love will prevail.
This one wasn't nearly as schmaltzy as it could have been and Zac Efron not nearly as annoying as R-Patz would have been. In fact, it was inoffensive fun for a switched-off brain. Or, if you are hdaniel82, "inoffensive crap", LOL.
But, compared to the fare I had recently, this is at least a 7.5/10. Blythe Danner rocks.

Re: The Lucky One
Blyth was just great. Wished I could have said more for Zac et al but mmmm just not much in the over all story for me. There were quite a few kids in the audience and a lot of guffing and movement when the snogging was on. After all he is growing into a nicely .........shaped .......actor though, reminds me of a young Cloony.
In my defence I have been on my own for nearly 2 weeks while OH is still on holiday in France, so feel that a little eye candy was OK.

Re: The Lucky One
I enjoyed the movie and won't even mind watching it again. Not having any teenage girls at my local screening may have helped. Yes it was predictible, but it was also easy to watch, not too long, had some funny bits and some cute bits in it. I was considering giving it a miss today (as fighting a nasty cold at the moment) but decided to go at the end, and I'm glad I did! I even felt a bit better after the movie!

I was looking forward to this film as I thought it would be a NICE film and I wasn't disappointed. I thought the time in Iraq was well handled . . . not too graphic and not too long. It just set the scene. As Beate and others have said, the grandmother was great and she was in many ways the pivotal character. I do think there was a little too much focus on Zac's eyes but must admit his body does look "fit" on screen.
Film was shown in a small cinema screen in Odeon Quay, Glasgow and was almost full. Audience were very well-behaved.
I would probably watch this again . . . though probably on tv rather than p*y!

Re: The Lucky One
Watched this at an almost full Trafford Centre. Like everyone has said you know what your getting with these films - I've really liked it.
On a side issue, the woman next to me, answered her phone during the film
, although she did try to keep her voice down but that was no less annoying than the couple next to me who "whispered" to each other throughout the film
