Re: The Amazing Spider Man
I love the Sam Raimi films too much to get too excited for this as the Raimi ones are just too fresh in my memory. Even though The Amazing Spiderman (Val, the comics were actually called that!) and Batman were my favourite ever comics. So I should be excited for this...but not quite
I think because this trailer doesnt have the wow factor that the Raimi trailers had and being an origins story, I do not feel we are progressing with this character.

Well im being excited for this BECAUSE the third is so fresh in my memory. That was an atrocity and i am excited for them to try and redo it.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:I love the Sam Raimi films too much to get too excited for this as the Raimi ones are just too fresh in my memory. I also like that they arent trying to copy or "do the Raimi films again". Mechanical web shooters (that i hate as he's basically Captain America not a Spider-man), different Spider-man Suit, dealing with his Parents. Its clearly a new direction and a different tone that is going out of its way not to stop on the toes of the Raimi franchise.
Also, from the trailer, i love the dark tone of Peter's story immediately contrasted to the bright and sunsoaked Spider-man swinging scene. Great contrast and shows how he feels when he's both Parker and Spider-man

I didn't realise that was the title.

I like Andrew Garfield but it should be Donald Glover.

Re: The Amazing Spider Man
I will not be watching this REBOOT. It is too insulting to the fans of the franchise for these reasons.
It's like the makers are saying "hey kids, just in case you forgot about how spiderman got his powers 4-9 years ago, here is us reminding you and trying to be different about it".
Or the writers can't be imaginative enough to continue the story and build on the character, so they're like "let's start again".
This is just hollywood appealing to the kiddies market and more merchandising opportunities at burger king and toys.
For people that grew up with this comic character, this is a travesty. For 6 year olds just discovering the character, then this will be great for them.

Re: The Amazing Spider Man
I remember watching the first film back when i was 11 and being blown away, and i remember being even younger and watching the 1994 cartoon without any concept of Opening Credits (i thought that whenever he wanted to change into Spider-man, he had to get bit by a spider every time, as they always showed it in every episodehotlondon wrote:I will not be watching this REBOOT. Saying that, i think this reboot is a pretty good way to go. I mean, when you try and build a House and its going well, but near the end the building collapses. You rebuild. But what i like even more than that is its a self conscious reboot. It knows the other films exists and its not trying to replace them. Its trying to tell a different story in a new direction. He even has webshooters and a different Spidey Suit in this one. So i'm supportive about it

Re: The Amazing Spider Man
i dont mind someone else interpreting the story - different interpretations are what keep a genre alive - but everyone would really prefer a new story instead of what you've already seen, because the spiderman universe is rich and as yet virtually unpicked.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
Re: The Amazing Spider Man
I don't get why they have started the films again? (correct me if I'm wrong)
I would of just rather liked to seen them continue with the franchise just with a new actor???
Starting it again is just effort.

Re: The Amazing Spider Man
I am surprised they've announced that already. It's a given, but it does come across a little presumptuous to have a release date already of May 2014. I suppose these films have turned into a James Bond franchise, they will just keep making them.
