Personally I intended on using a voucher to see it just for the cast. After all, this won't be saturation distribution or have more free previews.stuartboy wrote:Voucher-worthy?
Edinburgh Picturehouse - Cameo elected to show this in the afternoon as a pa*d performance. Typical Edinburgh - we needed something after the fiasco that was Noah's Ark last night.
Is this worth spending a voucher on?

It's getting 5* in this months Total Film and a stonking review. Sunday papers preview review the same. I'm using a voucher! I loved his last 2 films.

Beautifully shot and gorgeous scenery, but too many questions left unanswered and seemed incredibly long. Worth watching though. 6/10

I agree with you Sparrow. The Sparrow wrote:Powerful, gripping and disturbing film. Terrific cast.
I did not know anything about the film before I went, or that it was a comedy, drama, or that it was by the same director as The Guard, which I liked.
Had trouble with the strong Irish accents though. It dealt with a lot of serious questions about the church and priesthood. The scenery were amazing. Brendan Gleeson was excellent in the part of the innocent priest. Nothing hilarious in this film for me, and a shocking ending. 7/10

I thought it was quite a good film! It was nice to see Beate and OH. I think OH nodded off as soon as the film started! I heard Beate telling him to stop snoring!! I didn't know you'd dozed too, Beate! I said bye when it ended, but had to rush off as I was meeting my kids who treated me to Wimpy for Mother's Day!!

I enjoyed seeing actors I didn't know playing supporting roles in this - I always find it distracting when faces are over-familiar. I recognised Brendan Gleeson, Kelly Reilly and Paddy Considine, of course, and am not for a moment suggesting that they are seen too frequently. But I did not know the actors playing the doctor, publican or alcoholic businessman - though I am sure they are familiar to others.

Paddy Considine wasn't in it, you might be thinking of Aiden Gillen? But then he was the one playing the doctor, do you mean the one in the bow tie?Ms Thrifty wrote:I enjoyed seeing actors I didn't know playing supporting roles in this - I always find it distracting when faces are over-familiar. Did you jump when
he fired the first shot? I did plus I honestly didn't think he would go through with it. The final shot was quite gruesome, befitting of any horror film. Might even have been a scene from The Raid!
[prettyxcool wrote:I agree with you Sparrow. The Sparrow wrote:Powerful, gripping and disturbing film. Terrific cast.
