That was me. I left with about 30 minutes to go. When a movie is preposterous and facile for 90 minutes, it's not going to get good right at the end. I'd seen enough.

I should have left after that first Keitel speech "blah blah.... everything they say about you is true". It was like watching a very bad acting student. He just shouts every line, he barely looks like he could remember the lines. I bet he was just doing it for the "payoff" - i.e. money :D

Lot's of faux spirituality, weak imagination. Rather than dramatic, many characters were just plain cruel. Poor acting, weak storyline patched together with the animation. It was a bit like soap opera acting, where they access the easiest emotions - anger.

It was a bad movie, glad I saved half an hour of my day walking out o/

Well, the more I reflect on this film, the more I bloody love it. I can see how it might be quite Marmitey though.

I had reasonably high hopes for this film and for the first hour it delivered, I loved the visuals, performances & content and up to that point I thought this could turn out to be something very special indeed.

But then the animated section kicked in and I have to admit from that point onwards I found this film really hard going. I thought the quality of the animation really wasn't anything special (it had a 'Cool World' vibe to it which I didn't like) and the narrative was dull & really dragged out.

I thought the transition back to the real world was done well & had some emotional impact and the live action section of ending was solid but it wasn't enough to fully compensate for what had proceeded it.

This really was a movie of two halves, the live action section was a solid 8/10 but the animated section was only worthy of a 4/10 so overall 6/10 feels like a fair and appropriate score...

One of my most memorable films of all time was Waltz with Bashir, even though I HATE cartoons generally.

I went hoping to see something of the quality of Waltz with Bashir, but spent most of the time trying to work out how long to the end of the film. Only 10 people left by the end, and we shared views at the end - not positive. And we pa*d for this....

If you like comic books, it may be OK. If you like Robin Wright then that might be a plus. Neither apply to me. Nothing else positive to say.... except...

A final comment overheard in the cinema reception was - "how did the Guardian give this three stars?"

I would not be surprised if it is dropped from the schedule very quickly, as the feedback was so-o-o bad, even on half price day.
