Oh, in real life that's what happened. Government stepped in and it all went downhill.
I can't remember the time frame in the movie did they cover it by always having the geologist around.
Would also make sense why the soldiers were in the helicopter at the end because they weren't there in the true story.

To be honest, its not left that much of an impression that I can remember exactly but the geologist appeared to be also off site as he was with Wells when he had to go and impress the persons son by going into the tiger/lion/whatever it was cage and win favour to get control back. The rival, bigger company had taken control and they would surely notice there wasnt any gold
