Just come back from seeing this, I thought it was a very interesting mvie, maybe more of a spare time filler than full fledge movie night worthy stuff. Wasnt a background story, not much is explained, kinda like cloverfield without the camcorder and repace cloverfield with a bunch of aliens.
Thought the aliens were AMAZE-ing, very good idea with the light, ending was a bit of a twist and blatently leaves it open for a sequel.
Hoping that next time they have a big enough budget to explain why the aliens came in the first place, where they came from, and what they were exactly.

7/10 from me,purely because i still found it enjoyable even with its obvious flaws(I did find certain scenes humorous(as did some others in the cinema) when they were meant to be deadly serious)

I would describe it as nearly a slasher movie with the aliens doing the slashing. Certainly being taken by the aliens is NOT a good thing.
They're harvesting human brains to run their bodies. They literally reprogram the brain and remove it from the human body. Its then stuffed in the alien body to make it run properly. The process has little if any blood spill which stops it being a slasher movie, but only just.
Its more like a 50's B movie than a modern sci-fi epic. 5/10

Very underwhelmed after seeing this, almost like the special effects people just wanted to show off what they can do. The minimal storyline goes like this: one day some aliens appear in the sky... and then some people run for their lives. After about 10 minutes I was rooting for the aliens...
but good to know if you're ever confronted by a monster the size of a building, you can fight it off with an axe! I mean, really! Hope there isn't a sequel, despite the obligatory hint at the end.
So yeah, a poor b-movie, 4/10.

According to Mark Kermode, this movie only cost about $15million or so to make - pretty amazing when you consider all the effects.

Shame they didnt have a bigger budget, reckon it could have given independence day a run for its money with a properly structured background story

Yes!! My great-grandfather used to tell me about how he loved independence day when he was a boy as well. That's because independence day was in the olden days and this is like a modern day version right!
Looks the same from the trailers though, just different human character stories involved.

It actually looks exactly the same as MONSTERS and CLOVERFIELD!

I wasnt comparing it to independence day, I meant it looked like a modern day independence day as in, aliens invading earth and wanting to kill people, similar storyline but independence day has an actual story, never the less I still found it enjoyable
