I quite agree, both myself and my son were "bored stiff" half way through the film and he actually said 'I would rather we were shopping in Meadowhall' which is just around the corner, and to be honest I have to agree. Some people walked out but yet others were laughing out loud to things that I obviously missed. It was too long and half the storyline we just didnt really "get".Preston1990 wrote:This isn't the greatest of films in my opinion. If you are going to see it just make sure you are not doing so in exchange for a monetary transaction of any kind. Even watching it for free will probably mean that you come away feeling you've been a bit cheated, if only of your time.
It's slow to start and quick to irritate courtesy of Matty (Owen Wilson). I kept wanting to say to Lisa (Reese Witherspoon), "You are a lovely woman, so why exactly are you putting up with all this from this self-centred idiot?"
Similarly George (Paul Rudd) could have done with a quick course in assertiveness both in dealing with his overbearing father (Jack Nicholson) and another matter, which I can't reveal for the sake of ruining the film for those that do go to see it.
Thankfully, both Lisa and Matty overcame their private battles by themselves in the end, and my relief at that is the only reason why I don't give this film 3 out of 10. I enjoyed the latter part of the film, better than the first bit, so I can lift my score to a 6 out of 10 overall I think, although perhaps that's me being a little overgenerous.
Why Mr Nicholson agreed to have anything to do with this film though is still beyond me - The performance he gives is smilingly wooden! - OK perhaps the script didn't give him much to work with (or maybe the Botox was too much to work with), but Is the Icon really that desperate for work/money these days? What were you thinking, Jack?
What shame is all I can say, dont waste your time even if you dont p*y
1/10 from me and a 10 year old. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
