Directed by Kelly Asbury.
Starring: James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Jason Statham, Maggie Smith, Patrick Stewart, Stephen Merchant, Matt Lucas, Jim Cummings, Julie Walters, Richard Wilson, Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk Hogan.

Plot: Set in the gardens of fair Verona Drive, film witnesses the blossoming romance of two young gnomes, Gnomeo (James McAvoy) and Juliet (Emily Blunt), amidst a turf war between the reds and the blues. Between the high-speed lawnmower chases and stealth missions, hearts (and hats) are broken, loyalties are tested and garden boundaries drawn, but can true gnomance conquer all? When your best friends are an over-excitable frog, a lovelorn flamingo, a loyal mushroom, a team of Bond-esque bunnies and a dopey fawn, there's a shedload of fun and adventure around every plant pot!

Gnomeo and Juliet 3D

#18 Post by weliveandbreathewords » Sun Feb 06, 2011 1:48 pm

Saw this today at a full birmingham odeon(the cinema had stupidly overboooked meaning that alot of adults and young children had to be kicked out as they refused to let them stand at the back, lots of yelling and crying! not a good start.)

the film itself was good, very fun for young kids, but i was slightly disappointed, I expected more action and singing considering the selling line involves a heavy involvement with elton john!
lots of good jokes and some for adults too, bit silly but a very good twist on a traditional tale :)

7/10

I watched this today at a very full Hatfield, people were sitting on the floor at the back and more were turned away. I arrived dead on 10.30 to find the cinema was almost 3/4 full and had to sit 3 rows from the front.

As for the film I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would, it was cleverly done, the main characters were great, very funny. I do normally enjoy the 3D in films but thought it was unnecessary in this film, especially as it was used so little. Lots of giggles coming from the children so thats always a good sign too. Would recommend this film for families during the half term break without hesitation.
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

Went to the Galleria (Hatfield) to see this, and although we were early, the screen was already full so we were turned away... However, on the upside Odeon gave us free tickets to see any film any time as compensation... o/
