Indeed. Those £20 tickets will be about £30 once ticketmaster applies their charges. And tack on the price of a decent pair of binoculars, too.superhero wrote:Well yeah if they are selling it through ticketmaster!

Re: 2012 Olympics Tickets
Yep, and add another tenner for booking fees! The opening ceremony is only £2000...They will probably just repeat the Beijing hand over performance and add an extension to it as the pedestrians come off the Red Bus and go into an Underground tube, suffocating to death as they all squash up squeezing through the doors...yeah I'll p*y £2k to see that...ok just kidding but aww I'm being cynical and actually I truly support the London 2012 Olympics, I love the whole idea we're hosting it, I was happy when we won the bid. I am willing to p*y a couple hundred quid to attend a main track and field day and cheer our nation on. Its not an experience we'll get often. The Olympics are special so we do have to expect these high prices (though its still a shock looking at them!)
But they better be doing BIG concessions for the youngsters/students.

Re: 2012 Olympics Tickets
Anyone that pays council tax in London should get a discount as we are p*ying a lot towards it.

Re: 2012 Olympics Tickets
Don't get me started on us p*ying for the whole thing! Why isn't the whole country p*ying for it? the whole country can go to it if they can afford tickets. As for saying London will benefit from it, I seriously doubt it. I live in West London so I won't benifit. Most of the facilities will be left empty or knocked down. Its going to foul up transport and for those having to get into work, we don't need it.
I'm in arubbish mood this afternoon, sorry

Re: 2012 Olympics Tickets
I thought all UK tax payers were funding this?
If you live outside of London you can add on travel expenses + hotel

Re: 2012 Olympics Tickets
Londoners are p*ying council tax on it. I can't find any recent figures but this was on BBC news in 2006
Who is going to p*y for it all?
When the Olympic park bill stood at £2.375bn, London's council tax payers were expected to provide £625m, Lottery games to provide £1.5bn and the London Development Agency, whose funding comes from general taxation, £250m. The Lea Valley regeneration was also to be funded from general UK-wide taxation.
How much will London taxpayers have to p*y?
The £625m contribution from London's taxpayer is to be met by adding £20 onto every Council tax bill every year for up to 12 years.

Re: 2012 Olympics Tickets
It's interesting that the Actual quoted Top Tier price for the Opening Ceremony is £2,012 (2012).
I would have loved to have been there in the meeting where they decided that one!..
Seb: "So, how much are we going to charge for the Opening Ceremony"
Member1: "Well considering Beijing was around 5000 yuan and we take an average of 3% inflation year on year then that should be around £530.
Seb: ".......Stuff that! Let's make it 2012!"
Member1: "Fair enough, Who's for a biscuit?"
:-)
