Saw this today at Leeds, and thought it was brilliant. I had my doubts at the start, as it was cutting between events at different locations, and well, it was Sunday morning and my brain was not actually working at the start. However, once it got going, it built up brilliantly, and ... yes, it is based on a true story, and there are nice updates on the key people at the end. (Only read the link AFTER seeing the film! - http://dailyme.com/story/20101027000035 ... -true.html)

Denzel Washington was brilliant, and Chris Pine (who I had not noticed before) was convincing, as was Rosario Dawson. Sadly, I have been at the scene of a fatal train accident, and a couple of scenes were so convincing, it just took me back to that.

I'd watch it again, although not sure if that will be in the next day or so. I'd give it 8.5 or even 9/10.

i realy enjoyed this film today after arriving at the showcase cinema in glasgow the usher told us the film was starting at 10:30 of course i corrected him immediately (dont think he liked me) lol i got myself a burger as it was early and had been too busy shipping the kidz off to eat and it was freezing cold outside Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! never again powdery burgers not good lol but swiftly on to the film it was a little better than i expected and i would defo recommend it to my friends solid story solid characters and a nice all american cheesy ending which left me with a huge grin on my face ;) however 1 little gripe what was the point of the kids in the train at the start of the film that part seemed rather irrelevant at the end as they never surfaced after that seemed like a bit pointless showing them if they had no part in film after, but even without a 70 mile an hour missile aimed at a train full of kidz it was still a very good watch :D

8/10 from me and other half ;)

It was great, better than expected as someone in advance wrote, another train film, but in fact the most exciting train film ever with an amazing soundtrack which really is a part of the film.
Our cinema in bristol was full, so I doubt if anyone who often goes will miss a free showing, there are so many. chuffed.

Both my son and I loved this film. I echo much of what has been said above - all positive.
It's like the thinking man's 'Speed'.

9/10 from us

Hmmmm.. guess im in the minority then. Thought this film was okay and it looked extrememly promising with the opening shot of Chris Pine with no top on. Thought it was a bit over the top.. especially the story about Will and his Missus... geeesss... Only in America. Thought the girl who played Connie was the best actor.. The film was okay for a Sunday but dont think I would be watching it again... far too many points to pick at... My friend said she was going to rename this as Speed 3 - 5/10 from me :O(

I saw this at Showcase at Coatbridge yesterday and it was well worth the trip through from Edinburgh (no showing in Edinburgh yesterday and none i can make this week; and balancing it we thought we;'d prefer this to cannibals!).

We were right. It's action packed and they managed to keep the tension going throughout. There were only a couple of daft bits that have been picked up already but generally thought it really was excellent.. Washington & Pine really felt they belonged in their roles; so much better than Denzel's last train (subway) movie!

the scenery makes me think I don't fancy a holiday to Pennsylvania though!

8.5/10 from me. very good. Plus my dad would love it and you can't say that about many films!!!!!!!!!!
