Calling all Liverpudlians

I'm tryig to find out what kind of soil is in the Old Swan area of Liverpool.

A dear friend lives there and within a month has lost both her parents :( She id devastated as the were very close and she lives at home still.

I thought it would be a nice guesture to b*y her a couple of rose bushes or rose plants, that she could have in the garden, in remembrance.

any help or any info from gardeners would help a lot vx
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Yes, it's been sunny here in Durham too. How have people spent their St George's Day? We don't really do much to celebrate do we? I remember when I lived in Ireland, bunches of shamrock were sold on St Patrick's Day, and a great amount of Guinness was drunk by adults!

And if it weren't so near to May Day, I think we might have had a public holiday - although with Easter being moveable, that might not be feasible.

Peregrine falcons in west london. Live camera

#10618 Post by claire » Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:45 pm

Not sure uf anyone interested. But at my work we have some new neighbours
Our hospital pets have had babies again this year

We have been following this at work for a few years.
This camera is streaming live images of a pair of Peregrine Falcons who share most of their time between Fulham (in particular Charing Cross Hospital) and Barnes (London Wetland Centre). Charlie is the falcon and was the first one to settle in 2007. Tom is the tiercel (male).
http://www.wildlifewhisperer.tv/live-ca ... e=wildcams

So nice to watch. And if u live or work nearby (hammersmith) have a look around hospital in mornings. The adults fly around the building. It's quite cool

How to identify the difference between the falcon (female) and the tiercel (male) - The falcon is larger than the tiercel and has a ring on each leg. The tiercel has not been ringed.
