Thank you ladies. Celebrations deferred owing to OH's 3-11 shift tonight but visiting Winchester X-mas market tomorrow. I'm aware this gives me minus points for street cred but 10 years on I have stopped caring about that. Yay!

Hey I live in Hackney so must know all about street cred and I'd say that Winchester Xmas market sounds übercool to me. Enjoy yourselves. I shall be at a nearby church Xmas fete where daughter's former Brownie and Guide leaders sell their homemade jams and marmalade.

Winchester Xmas market is lovely, but I'm sure you'd enjoy the trip anyway, eumenides, since you're celebrating a special occasion.

My sister and I chose it for our annual UK Xmas market break a couple of years ago, though we actually stayed in Southampton (and you two don't even have to book a hotel!) as it was cheaper to do that and get the train to Winchester. The market was just the right size not to be overwhelming and all the better for the attractive setting.
