I watched this tonight at VUE West End...what can I say? I had better expectations.... I had only seen the trailer, I do not read reviews before going to see films as other people's opinions are just that, other people's opinions, it does not mean I will be of the same opinion basically. Having seen the trailer, I was expecting it to be some kind of "Hostel"-like film. And it was...for about 30 minutes...but then it changed into something else and then again into something else...It felt like the director was not sure what type of movie he wanted to make...And it felt like short films put together and not like a "whole".
A lot of laughing in the cinema. Me and my friend laughed, but man, not because it was funny...more like because it was crap! and more like "what the hell does this have to do with the previous part and what are all these monsters doing together and what is all this?".
I hardly ever give bad reviews but in my opinion this is a big fail. And I can tell you had I pa*d to see it, I would have been very angry I had wasted my money on that.

WHAT?
It flows perfectly together, it's a sci-fi nerd's horror film dream.

I went to the 9pm show of this and it was one helluva fun ride. Definitely dont read reviews for this as SH warned long time back. Just know that this is a horror movie that is scary, funny (on an evil dead or Zombieland level) and gory (ok PXC? this was never a film for you, lol) with an outrageously inventive script that makes this a refreshing and rejuvenating take on the horror genre in much the same way Scream did over a decade ago. Its not neccessarily unique as it fuses different movies together but it does so ingeniously. I'll name 2 movies but I'll put it in spoiler:
Truman Show meets Evil Dead 2
I want to write more but I wont (wadya mean, thank god?).
Honestly, the elevator scene was the only solid bit of entertainment in the entire movie!
(I did see the merman death coming a mile away though.)

For me, that was the redeeming moment and I just wish it could have followed through without any of that 'end-of-the-world' bullshit.
Entertaining enough, but wouldn't want to watch it again.

Lovely to meet Diane65 for the first time, sat with steve & OH, akh43 & her daughter, great to sit with the Manchester fmuk gang. Sorry we had to dash off at the end, OH wanted to watch Utd.

which one of the objects
would have conjured up the merman? for some reason I thought Josh from West Wing was referring to the ball Kim from Home & Away had in his hand but that was that other monster/man with saws in his head
