I think Chris Hemsworth has watched Shrek too many times & picked up his accent :shifty:

BF seemed to love this but im not quite sure what to make of it.
I loved the gothic theme, struggled with the Huntsman's accent, loved the dwarves and creatures, but hated her. Her

Thats possibly why I can't agree with this film :/
4/10 from me.
6/10 from BF

Westerhailes was almost full tonight. Got a bag of popcorn as we came in but it is the worst thing to give people as you can hardly hear the film for the constant rustle of the bags while everyone is munching during the film.

Liked the dwarves and the scenes in the fairy forest but again I felt the film at two hours was a bit too long. 7/10

We arrived extra early at Odeon Greenwich and started the queue in front of the chatty usher who was talking about how crazy the queues are going to be for when Prometheus comes into the cinemas. At 6pm we were let up and walked past the Virgin girl, manager and security guy so fast that we weren't bothered at all by them but the guys behind us were asked where their printouts were - er, we had all given them to the usher downstairs. Saw it filling up steadily with hdaniel82, rawsalsa, cliveas (who kicked my seat walking past, tsk), and ZoeBanfield who did her usual "looking for 2 seats together" thing. Then I noticed that everyone around me was chomping popcorn and remembered that the Virgin screenings usually provide this so went out and explained that in our haste to go in we had not grabbed any. Got chatting to the elderly couple next to us about free screening who were quite sweet until the film began and they turned out to be deaf as a post talkers who could not be shushed.

The film was supplied with subtitles for the hard of hearing which I brought to the attention of the Virgin girl (they were there throughout which proved useful later on) but they weren't switched off and I got used to them. An hour in the picture broke and we had sound only - just when the dwarwes turned up. It was rectified within 5 minutes though as for once the ushers weren't far. I went to the loo and got given another popcorn bag on the way back in.

As for the film - we loved it. I wouldn't have thought so but even Kristen Stewart didn't irriate me that much though she still can't act and really isn't "the fairest of them all". I loved that it was such a dark tale. I equally loved the medieval battle with the drawbridge, the arrows and the hot tar pitch being poured down from the castle defenses. Charlize Theron gave a hell of a performance and Chris Hemsworth was eye candy with a frankly outlandish accent.

The dwarves bring humour to the story and I recognized most of them but to my eternal shame I didn't realise one of them was Nick Frost. Instead I thought that the longhaired guy at the beginning who beat up Chris Hemsworth was Liam Neeson but I can't find him in the cast list.

It was visually stunning but the scene in fairy land provided a false note for me with ludicrous naked fairies creeping out of birds. The film is a bit uneven in tone and sometimes fails to hit the mark between serious and ridiculous, but all in all it were a tremendously entertaining 2 hours and I would not mind seeing this again, just because it's never saccharine and does not hit us over the head with a romantic love story.

8/10

Didn't hate this but it was just terribly ordinary. McG - I think you made a wise choice but thanks for giving me the chance to have an opinion about this! Yinster - I reckon your day tomorrow will be way better.

If they wanted Hemsworth to be Gerard Butler so much, why didn't they just get Gerard Butler...

I just loved this film, it was oversubscribed at the Trafford Centre so people who didn't get in had a choice of any film that they wanted to see. Beate has summed it up perfectly so no need to add anything 8/10

Saw this at Holloway Odeon - wasn't overly packs, would say around 85% full in a 100 seater - had an empty seat next to me. Agree the popcorn was both pleasant (because it was complimentary) and mildly irritating (rustling of bag) - but soon got used to it.

No big twist to original fairy tale which many grew up with, I think. CG was ok, a few interesting scenes / settings. What really did it for both gf and I was the outstanding and convincing performance Charlize Theron gave. Thought she was absolutely fantastic. It laid bare the lack of acting prowess from the other main characters. Not a hater of Kristen Stewart, her acting was not compelling, paled next to CT. And also - what's the deal with the accent Chris Hemsworth got on? Another favourite (or favourites!) of mine in the film, like others have mentioned, were the dwarves of Nick Frost et al. Adds a bit of light hearted moments in an otherwise relatively dark film.

7/10 for me.

Will try see this today. Strange its released today because I reckon most people will capitalise on it being an Orange Wednesday which means it loses out on maximising its opening revenue...I would imagine.
