Haha, it's not. That's the joke ;)
It could have been real and they named the main character after him. Art mimics reality after all.
Well, I did google the hell out Gerry Boyle and the closest I found to his namesake was Gerry Boyle the novelist. That Wikipedia swimming page has definitely been defaced.

Saw this at Wimbledon with some mates. My friends enjoyed it, I really didn't. The trailer had looked quite funny, I expected more from the film & thought I'd laugh more than I did. It's possibly my worst film of the year so far-along with Larry Crowne!

Apart from the film...I found other things in the cinema SO distracting...someone kept playing with their phone in the front row....my chair being kicked throughout by the person behind me...really annoying!

Didn't like it either. Was relieved to hear Celini and Valda didn't either when leaving the screening!

I didn't make the connection at the time, and you would have to have seen The Big Picture, too, to know what I mean, but by coincidence I had seen that immediately before this film and thought there was a strange similarity about the endings of both. Though in the other case, there was no ambiguity.

You're only allowed one single use of the F-word in a 12A (if I remember correctly it was the dope-head in Super 8 who said it).

It started off with loud swearing with an NERD song and just before the screening started the door was still open and you could hear lots of little toddlers & kiddies stood outside queuing for a different screening, I hope they shut the door!

I thought it was great I like ambiguous endings where you can be left wondering and thinking back to the several references in the film rather than everything fed to you on a plate. I also liked the dry un-pc humour it reminded me of my Dad with all the comments he comes out with which are highly embarrassing when he says stuff like that out in public as it's just his warped sense of humour and you just know strangers won't know what way to take it.

I was standing in front of the kid who was supposed to have been 15. Er nooooooo way was he, 12 or 13 at a push. I thought when the cinema bod asked him if he was sure, he was gonna cry.

Thought Brendon Gleeson was fab.... he made me giggle with his slant on things and his way with words. Found Don Cheedle's character to be really boring. Dont really have much else to say to be honest...... at one moment I did fall asleep for a bout 2 minutes (I was really tired anyhow), but I mean..... that obviously tells you something right?

LOl I did like it but not as much as In Bruges, he's obviously the less talented brother. I could imagine it as a play though
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks
