Woohoo, ive put on weight in America!
Albeit only 5 pounds! Which Im surprised about! So it should come off quite quickly(fingers crossed). Especially after the fact that fish and chips over there is half a plate of fishes and half fries, then the endless buffets, and the fact that any place you go to does NOT, thats NOT, have a small option, we had a medium pizza because they didnt do small, and when they came, they were more like our large size....o_O
And when they say the US is the worst for obesity, they mean it, its been a very big culture shock these past 2 weeks.
We went to Cici's pizza and there was a group of 6 people together, though you wouldnt have known if they weren't talking to each other, it was 4 to a booth, they could only have 2 to each one, so were shouting over 3 booths, 3 had walking sticks and one had a scooter.
And completely unrelated, a guy sat next to us, was having 6ths when we had only just finished our first portion, then continued up until 12ths, which he had a bunch of brownies and cinnamon rolls, finished them and actually had some of his drink. Then went up for more pizza.....we were in shock O_O
Those are just a few examples of the sort of stuff we saw over there :S
Im actualy glad to be back home with normal food! For the entire 2 weeks the only fruit i saw was $10 for an assorted pack, and I saw ONE apple at a restaurant and it was mouldy.... Although I will say Churros are ridiculously nice, their chocolate is nothing compared to ours(long live cadbury!!), with the exeption of hersheys ofcourse(ive brought back quite abit!) AND ive got box of lucky charms :)

Heres to going back to normal! Although I did enjoy myself a hell of a lot! :)
Hope everyone else has been having great progress :)

That's no shock, Rawr_oxo!! I have been to 3 different states in America, California, Florida and New York. New York was perhaps the more health consious I think. At least in that city, refills and buffets are not as much in abundance as the other 2 states where everyone is just encouraged to eat as much crap as they can. Here's the thing that really bewildered me. You go into a restaurant where drinks are almost always refillable for free. But they still sell small, medium, large, and jumbo sizes. To my shock I see most people ordering large or Jumbo size drinks even though you can save so money and b*y a small glass the refill it. This bothered me a great deal. Then it daunted on me, these people are so lazy, they prefer to spend more on a Jumbo size so they dont have to get up again. But maybe there is a different angle to it?

Hope you had a great trip though, I love going there. You can lose that 5lbs in no time ;)

Yeah, it's a huge culture shock to see someone actually go up for 6ths let alone 12ths!! When we were over there visiting bf's family I met some people who were actually barred from certain buffets because they ate so much that the restaurants were losing money!! The most I can have at a buffet is seconds so watching people hog like that is just mind boggling. I think I spent more time watching them eat than actually eating myself because it was just unbelievable. :giggle:

And yeah @ not having fruit! It's pretty astounding! :giggle:

I found the same about New York as when i went over i expected to see these big fat people stuffing their faces everywhere with humungous portions but it wasn't like that at all. I've not had the opportunity to visit anymore states yet but TV shows you plenty.

One thing i hunted high and low for was cookie dough, can you get it elsewhere in America cause people just looked at me like i was crazy when i asked for it in NYC.

Wow rawr_xoxo sounds like you did well to only gain 5lbs! 12ths??? OMG......that only happens to me at the chinese buffet! ;) lol

I'm another one who fell off the wagon, was very good, changed my eating pattern and in 3 months only managed to lose 2lbs, so got a bit disheartened and thought I would wait till the end of April as I had a trip to Spain and then went to Devon with all those cream teas and my nan being so keen to take us out to eat most days, thought may as well enjoy and worry about the half a stone I am trying to shift when I get back. Hence I put those 2lbs back on.........

However, I now have a new plan, I will be back to the healthy eating, not skipping breakfast and walking the school run, but my youngest has just got her stabilisers off her bike so for the first time in almost 20 years I rode a bike last week and me and the kids started going on bike rides. We started off just going round the block, but are now venturing further and further and I can't believe how much I am enjoying it. So hoping this will help shift those pounds this time.......and hoping that my legs will become lean and slender and not muscled up thunder thighs! lol

Nothing like a few holidays to tempt you with fattening treats ;) . biking sounds great in this weather. I've got an exercise bike on my balcony, think i'll give that a trundle and even if its only for 10 mins a day its still toning up my sausage legs.

OK.......is everybody ready with renewed vigor, committment and healthy alternatives after stuffing their faces with chocolate yesterday??

I did a yoga workout last night, have been hulahooping and have booked six zumba/pole fitness sessions. Need to go stock up on healthy food now and i'm all set for a powerwalk tomorrow lunchtime.

Right.....off for a 10 minute trundle on that exercise bike
