Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Now it wasn't free, it was £15 for the charity gala opening, but I went to see Shrek the Musical last night. Celeb spots include Prince Charles, Jack Black and Mick Hucknall.
Some good songs, but it mostly fell flat for me, and was still very rough around the edges. Amanda Holden was quite good, but I thought the guy playing Shrek had a really weak voice. It sounded like about the quality of a builder singing along to the radio. Shame!

Really! Too bad, not much of a fan of those two sites but I suppose that's the way things will go eventually!canadian_turtle wrote:My account has not been deleted but it's been ages since I received any of the e-mails too. Out of curiosity, are you all still getting these emails?

Thanks for the review! I really wanted to go to that for only £15 but already had another show planned last night (Spring Awakening at Greenwich Theatre - amazing! It still runs until Sunday, everyone should check it outhdaniel82 wrote:Now it wasn't free, it was £15 for the charity gala opening, but I went to see Shrek the Musical last night. Spring Awakening has been showing? How did I miss that?
I had tickets when it was showing in the West End (at the Novello theatre I think) but it had to end early due to insufficient ticket sales and my tickets were refunded. I was gutted I never got to see it. I have the soundtrack from the Broadway version and I love it.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I've been obsessed with the Broadway soundtrack for years and was gutted when I read a few months ago it had been in London (with Iwan Rheon nonetheless! I love him) and I missed it because I wasn't living here yet. Right now there's a national tour, so it's not West End, but they're still great.
Melchior is played by someone reasonably well-known (though I don't know him) and the others are unknown actors I think. Moritz and Wendla are cast perfectly, it's really a great show. They're at Greenwich Theatre this entire week. I may have just b*ght another ticket for Saturday night because I have no idea when/if I ever get to see this show again. Student tickets are £15 for all seats and regular prices vary from £15-£25 :)

I went with my oh to the royal gala on Wednesday too, and both of us loved it.hdaniel82 wrote:Now it wasn't free, it was £15 for the charity gala opening, but I went to see Shrek the Musical last night. Celeb spots include Prince Charles, Jack Black and Mick Hucknall.

I was on the tube not long after I saw it and there were these kids sitting next to me, and I ended up listening to them chatting (as you docanadian_turtle wrote:I've been obsessed with the Broadway soundtrack for years and was gutted when I read a few months ago it had been in London (with Iwan Rheon nonetheless!
