Untold Stories
Hailed as a ‘delectable double bill of short autobiographical pieces’, Untold Stories is a funny and touching portrait of Alan Bennett and the life he’s led. Hymn is an exquisite, beautifully written memoir of music in childhood, directed by Nadia Fall and with an evocative score by George Fenton, performed by a string quartet. Cocktail Sticks, directed by Nicholas Hytner, is Alan Bennett’s funny and tender reflection on his parents’ desire for a different life. Olivier Award-winning actor Alex Jennings leads the cast as Alan Bennett in both pieces.

Book Slam
Book Slam takes a gander at just who we are in a Summer celebration of British national, multinational and post-national identity that will be a lot more fun than it sounds and depressingly apposite. Those joining us include celebrated journalist and author, MATT RUDD, introducing us to 'The English: A Field Guide', and exceptional young poet, TALIA RANDALL. There will be comedy from tap dancer, lover, niece, JENNY FAWCETT, and our new favourite posh boy, DOMINIC FRISBY. We will also be welcoming songwriter, broadcaster, author and international pop star, CERYS MATTHEWS. Please bring your musical instruments (no, really - kazoos, recorders, drums, whatever) to join Cerys in a celebratory singalong ...
Food and drink available at the venue
