Escorted out of the fire exit?? Thats a bit cruel....
I liked Wolverine's appearance too and I was surprised they didn't get someone else to play him, but I suppose he isn't suppose to age
rawr_xoxo wrote:We got asked for Amex card, luckily my bf had one, and I told him to bring it just incase, we saw quite a few without cards get escorted out of the fire exit....
We were also searched, had our bags searched and had our phones taken off us!(first time ive ever experienced that)
On the whole thouhg, we both enjoyed the film, would have loved to have seen more of Beast(my fave character as well as wolverine)
And LOVED Wolverines mini appearance :D
Great little 'prequel' , looking forward to more!

Security wasn't that tight at marble arch...they took our phones but didn't ask for Amex cards. The screen was packed.

Watched it at Whiteleys. Took phones but didn't ask anyone (that I could see) for amex. Screen was full up, ushers were making sure there were no empty seats.

Goodness it sure was crowded when I turned up at Covent Garden. The entrance was filled with people then I ran into hdaniel82 who told me there was a separate queue for Amex cardholders. So we went to the shorter queue, had our phones taken away, and despite holding my Amex card in my hand, no one looked at it.

The screen wasn’t that big and filled up very quickly. There was not a single empty seat by the time the film started.

As for the film itself, I really enjoyed it. Definitely one of the strongest films of the X-Men series and a worthy prequel to explain the origins of Professor X and Magneto. There was plenty of action, impressive special effects, comedy, drama, and a good story here. I do feel that too much of the story was devoted to Kevin Bacon’s character and more time should have been spent developing Erik and Charles’ relationship which felt like a B-plot thread rather than the driving force of the film.

McAvoy and Fassbender were excellent in their roles, and Fassbender really made Erik seem vulnerable and worthy of sympathy, and his cruelty never felt sadistic. Although Fassbender definitely struggled to suppress his Irish accent (I could definitely detect an Irish twang in some moments at the end). A few of the characters were sidelined and seemed there to bulk out the numbers and provide cool superpowers rather than contribute to any plot development. And Beast was so poorly done that they would have been better off to leave him out altogether.

The pacing was a bit off though and the story seemed fragmented. It was jumping all over the place at the beginning then suddenly sped up in the second half to build up towards a dramatic climax which it did deliver.

Overall I’d give it 7/10.

I definitely loved
the cameos from Hugh and Rebecca plus the references to Professor X’s baldness.
Got to Whiteleys 5min before 6.30pm with 4 other friends+1kid, we were told there's only 3 seats available. Really frustrating, I blamed TFL for making me wait 30min for the 70 bus for the 15min journey!!!! So, a couple of my friends take the spots since they were at the front of the queue. Even as we were leaving the cinema, more and more people was coming with a paper in hand. How many extra tix they actually released????? arrrghhhhhh, my evil head kept wishing the movie to be horrible...sorry ;) But my poor friends with the son... he kept asking why aren't we watching X-Men :(. So we had dinner instead. But the boy still asking even after the meal.....

Well I got in finally in Braehead and credit to the cinema manager as he let us and another couple in first cos we waiting patiently outwith the queue. Don't think OH could had stand for that length with toes bandaged up from ingrown toe nails being cut off. Turns out the other couple were fellow fmukers, Moggers so it was nice to meet another forum user. Also saw Cheeksdevil too.

Still don't understand why security was so tight and yet not when the p*ying public can see this from midnight in some cinemas. If the release date was a couple of months down the line then fair enough. Phones asked but no searches.

As for the film it is the best film so far for me this year. High expectations because all the reviews have been positive and it didn't disappoint. The prequel definitely told the story of the beginnings of the x-men and how it all began. From start to finish I was hooked. Perhaps it was partly to the era but nothing felt out of place or far fetched. Both main characters were excellent and supports too. It loses one point from 10 only because there was no wee extra at the end of the credits. 9/10

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

At Westerhailes Edinburgh was the strictest security they have ever had. I was there early but not allowed in as I don't have an amex card. Separate queue was started and told we would have to wait until just before the film started before we would be allowed in. Phones taken from us and then body scanned - what a fuss!!

Enjoyed the film. 7/10

So sorry some of you had so much trouble, hope it's not a sign of things to come.

Phones were confiscated in Manchester, but otherwise it was business as usual - no extra Id needed.

I thought the film was great, Matthew Vaughn should have the pick of the top jobs after this - another witty, exciting, assured, fun movie.

Liked most of the nods towards the older X Men, Xavier's hair etc, but think everyone should keep quiet about the big cameo in the middle, it was very, very good.

Plus Michael Fassbender must be a shoe in for Bond one day, charisma, cool and an edge that's like early Connery. The early scene with the boat could have come straight from something like Thunderball obviously before all the supernatural stuff!!

I will be brief, because I really want to go to bed.
The story was good.
I loved the Magneto build up, his part of the story was my favorite, really enjoyed it.
Special effect looked cheap as hell, they were so bad for me, at points I could hardly concentrate on anything else.
Make up and wardrobe - horrendous for most of the cast!
Mystique - wig like a broom, bulky/chubby actress, horrible blue make up that looked like cardboard and horrible blue boobs. I really missed Rebecca. She was my Mystique. Best blue boobs hands down! I didn't b*y her character, she was cheesy during the whole movie, a little conflicted, but cheesy, so I didn't b*y her choice in the end (even though I knew she would make it) or the fact that she becomes this great villain...
Best part of the movie - you know who's cameo :D
7.5/10

haha....horrible makeup and wardrobe? Thats the 60s for you!
Whilst I agree special effects weren't it's strong point, but it had by far a stronger storyline than most mindless summer blown Em up films
