Isn't there one specific day for new movies to open in the UK? There is in the Netherlands (Tuesdays if I remember correctly)

Yes, its mostly always Fridays but often Thursdays too.

Hey I used to watch films in the cinema in Holland ;) Its the only country in Europe (as far as I know) that show English films subtitled rather than dubbed as they do in other Europe countries :)

That's because we don't dub stuff (not even for TV shows etc, unless it's for pre-schoolers who obviously won't be able to read the subtitles).

I loved it! Visually splendiferous! A feast for the eyes. I was in awe at the magical woodland scene. The dwarves were hilarious. I kept seeing features in them that I recognised - that one surely looked like Ray Winstone etc. Lo and behold when the crdits rolled they WERE the actors I'd thought I'd spotted.

The Hunstman's accent is and was intentionally Scottish. maybe they should have used Gerard Butler though. I was also slightly baffled by one of the dwarf's accents which was Scottish too. That really put me off the sent that it was Ian McShane! I kept trying to decide if the movie was set in Scotland, but it wasn't. I'm sure some scenes must have been filmed there though.
Amazing battle scenes and realistic castle seiges.

Troll was well cool!

My only fault was that the final scene seemed an anticlimax and I'm not really sure how it was arrived at so suddenly and so easily. Really thought more of a fight and struggle would have been put up.

An easy 8.5/10 for me. Would love to see it again.

Just posted a free screening for it and asked why it would be available after the movie was out. Then I remembered, the free films threads were non-chat.
So, anyone?

Has this happened before, where they have given free 'previews' to an already released film?

Yes, this has happened before and as long as you're on the Showfilmfirst site it's genuine! Shame it's invite only, but great find o/
