I would watch it again! Left in a good mood! But agree with others - the film could do with another ending!

Saw this last night at an almost-empty Vue Croydon Grants. I was glad of the opportunity and did quite enjoy it, but I thought it was quite badly written in some ways. I found it odd that the husband barely appeared at the start (just his back, though that was enough in the circumstances!), yet later he featured, once only, albeit in a significant scene. It seemed as though the writer couldn't decide whether to let the audience see him or not and from that one scene in which he did feature, it wasn't possible to tell whether his behaviour really had been as unreasonable as claimed.

I know it's a rom-com so suspend disbelief, etc, but it was also highly unlikely that a wronged woman with two children would take off for New York, book into a hotel, find the ideal flat and job in no time and then enjoy a meteoric rise in her career. And how did Sandy meet her gym friend and become so close, so quickly? It was entertaining in a way, but the unrealistic scenario distracted me at the same time. 7.5/10 from me. Surely someone must be able to write a slightly more realistic script which would still be commercial?

All together now....Awwww.... the film was oh-so-sweet in a nice kind of way. I watched it at Vue Westfield yesterday and I haven't been there before. Westfield was really relaxing, the film was relaxing, the sun was shining....Awww....
Back to the film, sometimes you feel rom-coms can be very formulaic, this probably was in parts, but it flowed along in a really charming way. Justin Bartha was well casted for the role, even though he's actually over 30! The kids had alot of the funny lines. I think I am just a sucker for these kinds of rom-coms. It's a small film, but I hope it does well at the box office and lots of people go and watch it. I think everyone left the cinema with a huge grin, so a huge 9/10 from me

Actually, the ending was one thing I did approve of, and I'm not being funny and saying I was glad it was over. What I mean is that I did think that was genuinely slightly different from the usual formula. The likely outcome was hinted at but not cut and dried, and any hint of subtlety from Hollywood is welcome.

I really liked the ending too.... What was the alternative? I think someone said in the trailers originally, they never meet again? :(

Or it could have been a more cut and dried version of the ending we did see, leaving no room for doubt/the imagination/etc/

There are probably saving the alternate endings for the DVD specials

Do you really get those on DVDs? I'm still not renting since my Xmas fallout with easycinema, but don't recall ever seeing any.

Not sure we need another review for this one - but I enjoyed it too.

CZJ played her part well - and Justin B - well he was almost too perfect!
I found some of the kids antics a little annoying - but it only made JB seem all the more wonderful!

I liked the fact that the ending was not cut and dried - the thing I found too cheesy was that
he has adopted a son of his own in the intervening separation years - that just made it too 'super cute'.
An enjoyable rom/com - perhaps one for the over 25 market - which is good. 8/10
