Oh well ducked...you'll do well in dodgeball team :P

Actually, I remembered in the cinema everyone laughing every time a new "end" began. And yes I do squirm a little with Frodo's slow motion eyebrow performance ("I will be fine, saaaaaam") and his extraordinary ability to split "Saaaaam"" into 29 syllables ;)

Plus I cannot help but laugh every time I see Gandalf rescue Frodo on the eagle because of this damn cursedly funny video.

I watched the brilliant french noir "Le Doulos" directed by the great Jean-Pierre Melville. A compelling film which focuses on character relationships and loyalty between a burglar and a man who may or may not be a Doulos (police informer). Complicated, but that's the noir style.

I wonder if Tarantino had some influence from that film for his Resevoir dogs?!

Possibly, glassy. He did work in a video rental store after all.

I've been thoroughly entertained so far by the third season of The X-files. My, my, what a stunning show. I've just got to the episode where Mulder's jumped on a train and my jaw was hanging wide open as the "To Be Continued" sign flashed up. Certainly one of the best things I've ever seen.

oh my if you think thats good your head will explode later as Xfiles season 4 onwards it just gets better. This is a prime time to watch the series, as it is supposed to all culminate in 2012!

Just finished 6 and started season 7, the sheer quality of most of the episodes says something about the budget and new writers brought in to support the show at this stage. Duchovny and Anderson also improve their acting range, and Scully becomes a lot more interesting than her simple foil role to Mulder.

I think the spin-off show, The Lone Gunmen is worth a look, though you might want to skip the rather grim Millennium.

Well I've been unwell this week so you would think there is more time for me to watch movies but I find it hard to focus on them, especially the arty ones. I started watching John Woo's epic film Red Cliff on Blu Ray and while the cinematography is breathtaking, I couldnt get into the story and there was no charisma at all. So I abandoned it. I decided short films might work better for my feverish attention span.

Fantastic Planet: An obscure, animated art film made in 1973 about a planet inhabited by humanoids fairly similar to us and at slightly advance technological level who keep pets who are tiny people like us. Quite a surreal film without any dialogue apart from a narrator's voice. Good story though.

Band of Brothers. Halfway through now. It was starting to drag a bit with combat becoming a little repetitive. However, the whole strategic journey to end the war is still highly gripping.

Fringe: caught up with last episode. Show still rocks but I am sure it will get cancelled due to all the breaks they keep having in US and the fact its on their network on the Friday Night graveyard timeslot. Desperately want to see Leonard Nimoy back in this series again, he did say he may come out of retirement for it.

Sherlock Jr (Buster Keaton). I have never been a Buster Keaton fan. Always favoured Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd and Laurel and Hardy. I think because when I was little, their faces tickled my funny bones more than the deadpan face of Buster Keaton. But now I decided to watch Keaton's films on the Lovefilm online library. My god, what a genius he was. How could I have snubbed these films all these years. this was 44mins of pure joy and laughter. The physical stunts Keaton does here are funny, clever and absolutely breathtaking on execution. I can see a lot here that Jackie Chan and even The Goodies would have being influenced by. The story itself was charming with a very large chunk of it being a dream sequence that becomes the main feature. This is comedy gold. Tonight I will watch his supposedly greatest film, The General which I have seen but I think I was too little to appreciate it.

That gives me only one year to finish off another six 1/2 series and two feature films! Yikes! I'll have to work fast.

Oh, I'll definitely be checking out The Lone Gunmen. Frohike's one of my favourite supporting characters, behind Mr. X.

that is a lot - thankfully you've put the weakest Mulder+Scully seasons behind you already. The next 4 will whizz along.

I watched Inside Job again (thanks to BBC iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... nside_Job/ ), and I was blown away again!
I am very thick when it comes to understanding financial matters (as I am really not interested in this stuff) but this documentary is just amazing!
It introduces all the players, the strategies, the hidden agendas in a very comprehensive way (even I can understand everything! That says a lot, trust me  )

It actually made me think about this debate we had around Machine Gun Preacher when some people were saying this (pile of shit of a) movie acted as an eye opener about the situation in East Africa... well people,if you really want proper information, watch a proper documentary!

Watched Captain America: The First Avenger because I missed it when it was out at the cinema.

I can't help but feel slightly disappointed. Not a bad movie by any means, it was just so average. ):
