Re: The Awakening
lol vouchers! I quite liked the setting and the period though. Its always interesting to see how different people dressed in the 20s.

Re: The Awakening
I managed to see this a couple of weeks ago. It was slow, methodical, and the performances were solid enough. However, it's been done before - and better. I felt that this could have been a BBC Costume Drama.
The mood of the film is unsettling but never creepy or disturbing. Rebecca Hall is compelling as the cynical ghosthunter, but the role lacked depth, and the romance with Dominic West's teacher merely simmered, and never really amounted to anything.
It was watchable - 6/10 from me.

Re: The Awakening
Have to agree with what Andrews said, watching it you feel like it's copying from various other films, but I guess I have to give it plaudits being a BBC film. We don't make many films like this in the UK.

Re: The Awakening
The Awakening? Heck it put me to sleep. Can anybody tell me what it's about? (Warning, spoiler alert.) So Rebecca Hall, the nice one from Vicky Cristina Barcelona, gets a call to visit an old school where a ghost has caused a boy to get killed.
The dead boy is really her brother.
Who the heck is Dominic West (besides that bloke from The Wire)? Anyway, didn't understand it. Zero tension and another reason why British producers should not hire screenwriter Stephen Volk. Ken Russell's Gothic. I rest my case. Spud out.

Re: The Awakening
I think he's saying he's done with his rant? Spud in reference to his nickname, out as in over and out.
