Iron Man 3

Had a horrible journey over to the O2 (spent about 40 minutes crawling in traffic up to the Blackwall Tunnel ) but still managed to make it to the cinema just after 6pm. I was surprised to see that the escalator to the balcony wasn't blocked off so up I went only to be told it was VIPs only this evening (still managed to get a decent seat in the main section though).

Anyway, on to the film itself:

Looking forward to this, just hoping it's not as disappointing as Iron Man 2 ...

Although I did think it was better than Iron Man 2, the difference between both sequels is pretty marginal IMO. I don't know what it was but watching this flick just felt like a pretty hollow experience to me. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't blown away by the story or the set pieces and I can't say that I particularly cared about what happened to any of the characters. Most of the villains felt pretty two dimensional, Ben Kingsley's character was the exception to this but I have to honest and say that I hated the 'reveal', it really didn't work for me and tonally took this film in direction that just didn't feel appropriate to what had gone before.

Overall, it was entertaining and I'm glad that I went to see it as it felt like a proper 'event' movie (at least until the film actually started) but I can't justify giving it anything more than a 6/10...

My friend took my son tonight as I couldn't get out of work, they absolutely loved it!

He was disappointed he didn't manage to get any of the Iron Man 3 glasses though, but will still be the envy of his school mates for seeing it early.

Vulnerable Tony is the sexiest Stark ever.
Pure entertainment. Cant wait for the Avengers 2.

I totally agree. Such a great film. I loved how they added the vulnerable dimension to his character, it really set the film apart from the usual comicbook films. Impressed by Gwyneth Paltrow too.

Loved all the special effects and was impressed by the 3D. I think the bigger screen really brought the film to life. I'm unsure as to how the film would work, if I was watching at home.. I somehow think it would lose some of its impact, if the screen was smaller...

This was indeed very enjoyable. Full on action, great humour and amazing special effects. Waited patiently for the scene after the credits and was not disappointed either. By the way, those credits, the Iron Man franchise certainly feeds a lot of people!

It's far better than Iron Man 2, although it seemed a different type of film to make the comparison to the Iron Man. This was more story & less of an Iron Man overload.

The villains were a bit far fetched for me, but Ben Kingsley was brilliant.

It was good to see the ushers at the O2 going round early filling up the gaps making sure no empty seats were left - they're learning at least.

Here's my full review - only have really minor nitpicks about things. Pretty much a perfect summer blockbuster as far I'm concerned. Certainly the best Marvel Studios film so far.

Very very good film. Thought it was great. Great fun, great story. Great character development. Loved how the events of The Avengers impacted Tony's character and really had a consequence on him and how the existence of Aliens wasn't just swept under the rug in favour of the "realistic tone" of the movie. They were dealt with and handled brilliantly

Even things that could've sent the film nose diving:

seemed to work here. Only a few things kinda seemed to stick out to prevent me from enjoying it. Such as

[spoiler]Killians Death was very Anti-climactic. Tony blew him up using the Mark 42 and that just pissed him off, then Pepper just blows a bomb up next to him and that suddenly kills him. Seemed a bit contradictory to me[/spoiler]

But it was very solid. Had great humour, great structure and was just a great film

Phase 2 is off to a great start. Bring on Thor 2

We got corralled at the bar level at Cardiff, OK to begin with but as it filled up so the heat level rose. Went upstairs and was told to go back down but its amazing how saying 'sorry, no way can a menopausal woman stand that heat', worked. Got to stand 2nd from front. Then, they tried to fill the seats closest to the screen first - OH is tall and said he couldn't sit in those seats and could we sit further back - this got us to the backrow, our favourite seats. There were so just so many reserved seats.
The glasses did look cool and know that the GC are going to fight over these.

Enjoyed the film from the start. Good references to the Avengers film which gave you an idea of connection / timeline of his life. Tony vulnerable, with PTS, I just wanted to give him a cwtch (cuddle).

The plot was OK, had the with great big 'crash bang wallop' action pieces but unfortunately some of the dialogue was lost by the crunching on food by the person sitting next to me. Am really getting fed up with 'loud' food in the cinema. The were some good one liners which made the audience laugh.
Loved the suits and how they were used in the film. As has been mentioned before this is a good film for the cinema and I think the small screen will not give the full on experience of the action pieces. 8/10
