Re: Gardening tips and ideas
Trug now assembled so need tips on planting my herbs etc please. Do I plant in rows and which are prone to spread and takeover? Got basil, rocket, fenugreek, chives, parsley, fennel, chives, oregano and mint seeds and would also like to grow lemonbalm. Looking forward to having some tips. I will also be b*ying a few pots as Baty has suggested from the supermarket to give me a head start but would like to plant these seeds too. Thanks everyone for your tipsDiane65 wrote:Thanks for that I'll be phoning them. I have had a pile of compost delivered today but no trugsteve wrote:Sorry if this has already been posted. Make sure the mint is sown in a container, it spreads like wildfire! You can bury the container in your trug. Look at the packets of seeds, there will be tall ones, ones that spread and some that will be quicker to grow. Just follow the instructions for sowing, As to laying out, well, you can sow in a grid pattern, curves, just make sure each type has room to grow. Watch out for slugs when they start to appear. Just try and be patient. I've had better luck growing basil on my window silĺ than outside, good luck.

Re: Gardening tips and ideas
I seem to have some ants (lots of them) in my potted plants and eggs too. Any suggestions of how to get rid of the eggs please?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Gardening tips and ideas
Hope your ant problem has been solved sunny saver, can only offer advice of chemicals or re potting and washing away the eggs.
Here is a picture of the grown, spring onion cut off's

I may cut the top for a stew and leave the root in the ground to keep going.
The mint is in an old chip pan innards but it still manged to escape. It grew tall then fell over, where it touched the ground it rooted - have now taken the new 'cutting' out and re potted.
