I'm on hotmail and receive my alerts ok (touch wood!) I seem to get a double alert of two emails sent at the same time sometimes too. :shifty:

Well that explains it.
Notifications have gotten too popular. We can send 1000 per hour max so I have hundreds, maybe thousands, of deferred deliveries in the forum email inbox.

How would you feel if we made notifications only available to 100+ posters?

What if emails were to be sent by 3rd party software i.e. 1 email sent to massive distribution group via another system.

You lose fine control that way, it would have to be restricted to the free films topic and then you'd get an alert for every post there, including every chat post (My post isn't chat! Yes it is, thats why it was deleted - end of!). Its liable to cause confusion and what happened to the post? type questions.

The main problem with this is actually implementing it. Its possible that an add-on exists to use a 3rd party software email program but the only options to control subscriptions to forums or topics are global. Its an all or nothing situation and if FF alerts are sent to a 3rd party first, you have to disable that feature on the entire board also - thats the whole point of using the 3rd party. Its likely to annoy quite a few people who subscribe to other topics/forums.
