Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
well I just woke up! following my Midnight Merlin Marathon lol.
Goodness this show starts pretty epic - Uther ill, Morgana winning all the rounds, a new King and Lancelots death (:(). It settles down to good old fashioned focus on Merlin, Morgana and magic after that. Fortunately the guy who plays Arthur is carrying the reins well, and even the actress playing Morgana has upped her game a bit considering shes been the equivalent of Janet Devlin for the past three seasons (you know - quite fit, but only one trick lol). Shes still the weak link in the show though, but she does take quite a battering in this series, you almost feel sorry for her.
Have downloaded the Sword in the Stone for the New Year - no way can I do 13 episodes in one night lol.

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
I think Katie McGrath is so much better than Angel Coulby. Gwen is so dull and boring. Merlin has grown up a lot and is becoming 'himslef' quicker than Arthur is becoming King, if you catch what I'm trying to sayraj101 wrote:well I just woke up! following my Midnight Merlin Marathon lol.

do you think so? Gwen is pretty one dimensional as a character, so I think Angel does a good job, shes always engaging. Morgana has been a wasted opportunity up till this season when she was soulless. But now the director is making every effort to make her look especially toxic, and most of the time it works. Merlin/Arthur needs a new direction, thankfully they are leading to that with the inference that Arthur is soon going to find out that Merlin is a mage.

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
I watched Paranormal Activity- what a pile of smelly poo. I am surprised that this did really well. I then flicked over and watched some of Knight and day; will finish watching this another day as I thought it was well funny. And finally watched Bad Lieutenant-I thought Nic Cage crack'd it, the film was totally immoral and politically incorrect and I sat there shocked and amazed at the same time. At one point when he seemed to have everything going his way, I actually thought he was hallucinating. NC seems to be able to play certain roles;ie.addicts, with such gusto its a shame he is let down by his dodgy films. Loved it, wonder why it didn't do so well?

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
I had a great time, watched Alan Carr's New Year's Eve Specxtacular. I was crying with laughter
Funniest thing I'd seen since It'll be Alright on the Night
I taped four Lions, for a different sort of laughing and crying

Not last night - but today: Being Elmo.
It's obviously about Kevin Clash but more as a general puppeteer than as 'Elmo' (why this passion, how he got there, who he met, what consequences on his personal life). And there are footage of Jim Henson etc, so it is pretty cool.
No matter what people think about puppets, I LIKED THIS FILM.
Elmo liked it too.

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
Sherlock. Its the only program I have actually waited to watch live on TV for since perhaps a decade. Everything else I watch on tv are always on my scheduled recordings but this, this for some reason was the only thing I felt excited for to watch live since the good old innocent days when we had no PVRs of any sort.
My self-overhyped anticipation could have easily lead to disappointment. But it didnt, quite the opposite. Sherlock floored me with its exhilarating brilliance. Hands down the best episode so far. I have to watch it again to follow the clues that Sherlock so arrogantly picks up. Brilliant script, witty dialogue, snazzy editing, breezy performances...I could go on, everything is just so perfectly blended into magnificent television. After all that praise, it might be a bit of a shock to give some criticism but I do have one. I think for around 10-15 minutes of the last half hour, it lost a bit of steam with its twisty storytelling and actually had me a little lost with the plot. But this is a show worth repeated viewing and I hope to follow the intricacies of the plot second time around. I am actually familiar with the story haveing read most of the SHerlock Holmes stories over the last couple years but these new adaptations have change them a lot.
Even though there only 3 episodes each season, they are 1.5hrs each. And keeping the season short means they got more time to ensure the highest quality...at least that's the logic I take on it.

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
Agree with you MrG. It was worth the long wait to see the new series of Sherlock. It is absolutely genius and I managed to keep up with it as I use subtitles. Helps when he is deducting things at such speed.
