From wikipedia
Due to the large gap between PG and 15 and industry pressure regarding Batman, a 12 certificate was introduced on 1 August 1989.[7] However, it was for cinema use only and did not cover videos. 12 films released on video would typically be classified 15, though they were sometimes edited to fit the PG category. All of the symbols were also graphically edited.

They are spot on this time with their review.
And as the heroic mortal Theseus, the only one who can stop Hyperion, young Brit Henry Cavill will have you wondering how he was cast as the Man Of Steel when he’s currently made of wood

Well that explains why I remember there always being a 12 rating. It was introduced not long after I was born.

The review in the Scotsman newspaper today gave this 4 out of 5 stars and calls it "a glorious tableau".
I very rarely agree with the guy that does the film reviews in this newspaper and often wonder if he has watched the same film as I have but never more so than with this film.

Haha. That's laughable. Clearly never saw the nonsense we watched! I've not seen such a poor response to a film from ourselves in a long time. And to think I chose to break my brother-in-law's 3D virginity with this one!

Henry Cavill has revealed how he relied on his co-stars to help him get through the gruelling training regime needed for his latest role.
The Superman actor plays Theseus in Tarsem Singh's new movie Immortals, and he was warned that he would need not just a six-pack but an eight-pack and no body fat whatsoever for the character.
Cavill began a six-month regime to get into the shape, and said he was determined to do it without trickery or make-up.
"I had a big sense of pride. I was like, 'No shading. I don't want you to draw abs on me. I don't want you to put dirt in the right places. I want to do it myself. I want to have the body'," he laughed.
He thanks his co-stars Luke Evans and Twilight's Kellan Lutz for helping him get through the tough times.
"It was an act of camaraderie. Training to that level is difficult enough but when you're also 'leaning' [taking on calories to create bulk] for 10 months, it's insane.
"You start to flag and lose your will, so it was great to have everyone else there to make jokes and keep things going."
He'd train from nine-to-five, five times a week and his efforts pa*d off when his co-star Freida Pinto described his body as "God-like".
"Being in that kind of shape is something everyone should do at least once," he says. "It's a great feeling - and I don't mean that in an arrogant way. You go to the gym, train hard and learn how far you can push yourself. That becomes rewarding in itself."

I posted a link to the first BBFC podcast the other week, in it they talk about the history of the various ratings and how they go about rating certain films now and the kind of complaints they get. I found it very interesting.

And personally I think this film was rated too low as a 15 and should have been an 18 for that kind of violence and definitely shouldn't have allowed 10 year olds in. They (quite rightly) gave Drive an 18 but this get's a 15?

haha your mum is probably about right.
i thought bits of it were ok, but largely thought it was a waste of my time. couldn't believe it was only a 15 and much of it made me feel a little sick and uncomfortable.
