Drive
Re: Drive
I really, really wanted to love this movie after so many stinkers lately. It had all the ingredients of something I would really like. Great cast, pace, story. The opening scene was fantastic but I just never felt interested by Ryan Gosling's character. The music was awful and the violence didn't fit the tone of the film in my opinion and I normally don't mind a bit of blood. Gosling's character was so cool, quiet and calculating
that the extent he went to make sure the guy in the elevator was dead was way, way over the top and was just there to shock. And to do it in such a fashion in front of his love interest...hmmmm and then the body is just left in the elevator without any implications.
Also the ending really cheesy, it looks like he's dead but wait...his eyes blink and somehow he's still alive. I think there are much better ways that could have been done.
Re: Drive
Do you win everything sf?
Well done though!
Beate you had the option to go on Wednesday, you chose not too!
I'm now trying to avoid some of these reviews here..... Getting tempted to read some of the spoilers.

Re: Drive
Saw this film for free at the weekend and it was excellent. Just as a warning, there are several particularly gory scenes in it when people with a weak constitution might want to avert their eyes, and the pregnant pauses between the two main characters are a little frustrating. On the whole though, this is a stylish and gripping film with a superb soundtrack.

Re: Drive
The first couple of "pregnant pauses" were fine but after that I just wanted to slap him. It just made it feel awakward for me. In real life I would have shuffled my feet and after a while, shuffled off lollauriesm wrote:Saw this film for free at the weekend and it was excellent. That's why I said you chose not to!Beate wrote:But I had TTSS on.
I also had TTTS on but made the choice to see Real Steel. Going by the reviews, I'm glad I did that too. Didn't have brain space for an intense film.
