I agree, and I should also add that I am always thrilled to get free theatre tickets and I hope to go to more theatre shows when I can. Even if I don't love all of them I think it's wonderful to have the opportunity to experience it. You really have to be quick to get the tickets though, and flexible to be able to go at short notice.
I happened to see over the shoulder of the man in front of me in the queue for the box office at the Old Vic and he'd pa*d £73 fir two tickets for Design For Living.

Well at the moment, the theatre shows are beating the films hands down in terms of quality

Any thoughts on where to discuss non-free or nearly-free theatre shows? Would those need a new combined thread? It shouldn't be individual threads for each show should it. Last week I pa*d two pounds for a pub theatre production about speed dating and at the other end if the scale also went to see Sister Act in the West End. I'd like to discuss theatre shows with people, freebies or not.

I think it would just be easier to classify anything pa*d for as a pa*d for show as opposed to nearly free. We don't want the movie forum to be taken over by theatre threads :giggle:

Perhaps like the Concerts/Gigs thread, there can be a Theatre thread?

I think that's a good idea.

Wow £9.50 tickets for Sister Act, now that is a bargain, thanks to Wolverina2411. Shame even Whoopi Goldberg coming over to prop up the show for 3 weeks in August couldn't save the show from closing soon. I wonder if they are still going to take it to broadway after this, it doesn't sound like it's been a success

I thought it was closing at the end of October because it was moving to Broadway. I saw the show last week (Whoopee Goldberg had flown back to America by then to see her Mum who died just a couple of days later). I loved the show. I'm sure you'll have a super time superhero.

I don't know, haven't read much yet, but if it was really successful I am sure they would have kept a show in the West End and Broadway. I know they want to open it in Broadway as Whoopi is the producer. I didn't know her Mum died recently, sad news....
I haven't b*ght a ticket for it yet though, maybe I am secretly hoping SFF takes over the musical world too...haha
