Re: Real Steel
Saw this at WIQ yesterday. Bad start, as the lights were left on for the opening of the film
luckily someone complained to sort the problem out. The film itself was much better than i expected to be, largely superior to transformers and had a good deal of likable performances, especially from Hugh Jackman who usually, i dislike. the movie provided interesting story lines, good visual effects, and the occasional funny moment.

That was me. I am the chief complainer round here! Can I also add that the usher I spoke to turned round and flipped a switch. I'll repeat that, he flipped a switch. Manually. So much about everything being automatic!sikmansam wrote:Saw this at WIQ yesterday. Re: Real Steel
this was a fun film. the 10 yr old nephew was on the edge of his seat for the fighting bits. he is not sure if this, or super 8, is his fav films for this year.
i thought it would go the usual route and was mildly surprised by the ending. but it was fun. and what's not to love about hugh jackman sparring with robots?
i also think the cgi was very well done, sometimes restrained. it didn't (always) go the bigger, louder, faster route of transformers - i didn't just shrug during the fight scenes but felt it was believable. i was surprised how engaged i was with a film about fighting robots! hehehe

Saw this film last night and wanted to add to all the praise it so rightly has received.
You would expect a movie about robots to have no heart but this was truly moving and thoroughly enjoyable, I'd definitely recommend!

Re: Real Steel
Definitely a bit of a guy movie! My boyfriend enjoyed it a lot more than I did and didn't even mind Evangeline Lilly!

Re: Real Steel
Saw this in Liverpool yesterday. Sons (12 & 10) absolutely loved it and are recommending it to all their friends - their dad was quite impressed too. Possibly more of a 'male' movie, but enough in it to keep everyone entertained.
