I might have slightly snapped after repeatingly turning around and saying a quiet shhhhh. I wasn't rude per se but I did say in my best teacher voice "Would you just stop rustling that bag!".....andrew.falconer wrote:Agreed! As was already mentioned the only thing to really spoil it for me was the need for people to be rustling noisey bags of popcorn and stuff. The wife even turned round and snapped at the people behind us at one point as their 9 year old son (yes 9 years old!) was just continually making noise with his popcorn bag. In one particular scene
when the iron man suit attacks pepper potts in bed
it sounded like the 9 year old son was going to hyperventilate from the shock! I might be old fashioned but I don't think this was a particularlly suitable film to bring a 9 year old too.

I thought by-far the best thing in the whole film was the holographic visual of the brain early on in the film....and I'm not saying this simply because the drummer in my band designed and lead the team that created it in Australia, honestly ;-)

I took my kids 5 & 7 to Didsbury - don't really see what you are all getting worked up about - its a superhero film - my son 5yo absolutely loves superheroes Batman, Spiderman etc etc. He got dressed in his Iron Man suit and looked great, was super excited and had a fab night.andrew.falconer wrote:Agreed! There is going to be noise such as rustling bags of popcorn etc - surely that's part of the experience of seeing at the cinema with other people - if you want total silence then watch at home on dvd in the sterile atmosphere of you living room. I appreciate people talking and mobile phones are not acceptable but the other moans are petty.
Also the special glasses didn't fit children's faces and they wanted to charge for normal kids glasses - that's my petty moan out of the way

I wasn't expecting to go to this but got a call from a woman from the Mirror who said I had won a ticket and my name would be on the list (Sheffield). One? Wierd. Even the clipboard guy just said "not another from the mirror". Apparently they had no idea about us and our names were not on the list, but let me in anyway. I was given the normal 3D glasses but went to get a pair of iron man ones for a souvenir. The place was huge and almost full when I got there. Massive screen too.
The film: Spectacular with great effects, awesome action but took a while to kick in. Maybe a bit slow in places but if a story has to build then this is necessary. It's hard to please those that simply want action all the way through. It was hilarious in places and a few twists that came as a surprise. Well acted and a reasonable script. I wonder, as someone has already pointed out on here, how well it will look on the average tv. We had the benefit of a massive screen in 3D. Nice tie in dialogue to other movies which gives the sense of a bigger story.
Forgot to stay to the end to see the end sequence, damn! Anyhoo, well worth a watch and would recommend it to anyone. Some younger kids may get bored in places though.

Theres rustling and there is what this kid was doing which was sticking his hand in, and rustling for a while during a very quiet scene. No problem with people eating popcorn, but surely it's just considerate to people around you that you try a minimise the amount of noise you are creating so as not to spoil other people's enjoyment around you.mathew1971 wrote:andrew.falconer wrote:There were some kids at the premiere that must've been just 4 or 5 years old!I took my kids 5 & 7 to Didsbury - don't really see what you are all getting worked up about - its a superhero film - my son 5yo absolutely loves superheroes Batman, Spiderman etc etc. He got dressed in his Iron Man suit and looked great, was super excited and had a fab night.andrew.falconer wrote:Agreed! Glad your kids enjoyed it :) What I was suggesting was that there were certain parts and themes that in my opinion might not be suitable for young children. But the only reason I brought it up was because everytime something mildly scary or violent was happening I thought the child behind me was going to have a heart attack.

Of cause people should try to minimize the amount of noise they make whether they are kids or adults - if my kids were making alot of noise i would tell them to be quiet or take them out. Agreed some parts were a little scary for kids - mine just snuggled in for minute - if i had thought it too bad i would have taken them out - i would suggest that the parents of the child behind you should have done exactly that.Theres rustling and there is what this kid was doing which was sticking his hand in, and rustling for a while during a very quiet scene. Glad people enjoyed it. I do think people should try and minimise noise. Was at a late night showing of phantom once and just my partner and me and Chinese couple. They kept talking loudly. Finally I told them to shut up or leave and they left, leaving cinema to just my partner and me!!

We joined the throngs at the barriers by the red carpet at 5.30pm at Leicester Square Odeon. Unfortunately, the people in front of me were about 6 foot tall, so view was obstructed quite a bit. But still managed to get some photos. We then went on the red carpet, and bumped into c_t and funthing. We managed to pose for some photos with "Iron Man", Rebecca Hall, Samantha Barks (Les Miserables), before security ushered us in. Lovely to see jeanelle inside. On our seats were popcorn, a drink and an Iron Man 3D glasses. I got the Iron Man Mark 42 and my OH got Stark's. They were quite chunky and uncomfortable, but when I came back from the loos, miraculously, a normal pair was left on my seat, which I wore instead!
Alex Kane came and did the intros, and asked us not tweet about the film. On to the stage came Drew Pearce, Shane Black, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, Sir Ben Kingsly and RDJ, who said a few words, and that was that.
I loved it, loved it. Stayed behind for the clip after the credits, I could have stayed for more. The credits were long though, so many people were involved! 10/10
After the film, more posing for photos, this time Dermot O'Leary, X-Factor's presenter, and Drew Pearce, the writer (who jokingly said he won a comp to write the story), before being chucked out by security.

Re: Iron Man 3
Sounds like you had a great night and some good pics we saw some of the footage and interviews outside which looked good, wish I could have been there as love RDJ. Loved this film, one of my favourite films this year, I loved the comedy, the fact he wasnt IM for quite a bit of the film and yet still managed to win through most of the time albeit with a few cuts and loved the ending. I got the black and gold stark glasses and surpringsly found them ok, wore them over my glasses, I did bring my clip on ones just in case needed.prettyxcool wrote:We joined the throngs at the barriers by the red carpet at 5.30pm at Leicester Square Odeon.
