Your windowsills look amazing Baty and make my home look very dull. I just have one object per windowsill which are usually flowers apart from the kitchen where I have a variety of plants. I'm loving having my fresh rocket growing outside but tend to take a handful and eat it whenever I'm passing  Need to get a few more herbs planted in my trug as it is so handy outside the back door.

Thanks for your tips baty, your plants look great. I will definitely give the spring onions a got. I threw some pepper seeds in a pot on my window still the other week and they are sprouting now, is that how your pepper plant started? Never grown peppers before, just thought I would try the seeds to see if anything happened.

Thanks Diane65, I can't seem to keep flower type pot plants. So swings and round-abouts. DD2 can bring back orchids from what seems to me to be dried up twigs. Everyone has a speciality.

Akh43, The bushy chilli - Spike(its real chilli name) I b*ght at a food festival. Grew other plants from its seeds and they have done well. just repot when they start to have the roots showing at the bottom of the pot. Don't have the new pot too big, better to re pot again later. They may be a little slow growing from now on as the amount of daylight will be deminishing. I found that a southish facing window sill and turning the pots helped to keep the plants healthy. They don't need as much water as they are mostly just ticking over waiting for the spring / longer days to come.

Good luck and happy growing.

I had noticed a few leaves on my chilli plants were looking like lace curtains - check for caterpillers!! Found the little green monster and put him outside where he belongs.

Heard some really strange noises outside yesterday morning. Tracked them down to the woodpile, seems the hedgehog snores!! Been blaming the OH for the noises :D

I've b*ght some spring bulbs and want to plant a mix in a pot, tulips, anemone and iris.

Once planted, I water, but do I continue to water throughout the winter? Also can they be left outside or do they have to be brought indoors in a dark room please?

Thanks.

Hey baty,

Your chilli plants look great :D

I don't know if you know that if you spray them with bug spray it will at some point end up in the chilli's you are going to be eating

I only sprayed for the move inside and this spray was for edible plants stone monkey. Usually it's a spray of soapy water. I have frozen a lot of them for the winter though the plants are still producing flowers. Will be slowing down the feeding and cutting them back in October, to give them a rest. The plants have been easy to grow, very for giving as to watering and produced so many chillies. Saving some seeds for growing next year as I want to make chilli jam and chutney. A new thing I learnt was that if you have different species of chilli growing near each other then they can cross pollinate, maybe this years seeds will be hybrids? A lesson for next year!

Hey baty,

Apologies, you know a lot more than me about your plants :D  :D I'd love to grow some stufff like that at home but I have no sunny windows and if I placed them outside they would definitely walk away when I was not looking :tears: I've recently signed up to a voluntary group who will be growing bit and pieces. I hope to get the chance to grow a few things for myself as well (since I gave up my allotment (a stupid thing to do but seemed the right thing at the time))

Take care..... :D

I would love to have an allotment stone monkey but am confined to window sills and pots at the moment. I have got some plants growing on sills that don't have direct sunlight, they seem to doing ok at the moment will keep an eye on them as the daylight gets shorter. I keep turning the pots so that they grow straight and get rid of the leaning.
I know what you mean about things going missing if you put them outside. Had my wheelly bin for years, trundled it to the curb, took the bin bag out and brought it back. DD2 left the wheelly out once.....never to be seen again! Ggrrr
