We need to make sure that they have availability for the time and day we want, since we have to p*y in advance as it is an Amazon deal, we need to have a firm decision. The ghost tour is at 6pm or 8pm and lasts 75 minutes. If we have a firm number, I can call to make sure they have space on that tour, ask them to reserve it while we b*y the deal online. I can't see when the deal ends, so the sooner we make the decision the better.
The total value of the voucher is valid until 23:59, 89 days from the p*rchase date
Thanks Yinster. What I mean is when the actual offer of b*ying the deal ends not when the voucher expires. My concern is also that as I do not live in Edinburgh, and I b*y the voucher and I cannot book for the 28 March for instance, as a group, then it is no use to to me. LOL.

The Cambridge Bar sounds like a great place. They are offering a burger and beer for £9.95 at the moment.
Is the price range ok for everyone?

Here are some cheaper options, but may not be as nice as the Cambridge Bar? Although have good reviews from Tripadvisor except the last one (mix reviews).

Platform 5, just opened last May 2014. It has all our ethos of being good value, has offers and a wide variety of food from a lunch for £5.99 that includes a sandwich, a side and a soft drink, or upgrade to an alcoholic one for £1. There is a two starters for £6 or two desserts for £6. Burgers and fries from £7.29. A soup and a stew for £4.49. There's grills, lasagnes, noodles, and pies. There are nibbles from £1.50 to £3. It is spacious and have a private room and is in a central location, Haymarket.
http://www.platform5-edinburgh.co.uk/menu

It's part of the Belhaven chain - unfortunately it is not participating in the £5 offer for signing up. The ones in the chain that are offering the same menu is Leith Beer Co (The Shore, Leith), The Cameo (Commercial Street, Leith) (has a function room) or The Advocate (Hunter Square - I have no idea where this is!).

There is more way to save if interested. Basically, the more you share the more you save. For each friend who signs up you will get one point, you need two more points to unlock the 20% voucher on £10 food spend, need 5 points to get a voucher for 30% of £15 food spend. However, if one person can get 10 points (i.e. 10 people to sign up) can get 40% of £20 spend on food.

Near Edinburgh Castle. Light bites from £3.50, mains from £5.95

But apparently has free buffet for large bookings.

What does everyone think, has any locals been?

I personally would prefer the cheaper options as I have to factor in my train fares, hotels, the boat trip, the ghost tour, and the Royal Yacht! It is the FMUK company I am most looking forward to! So the free buffet sounds ideal, although need to check what their minimum spend is on drinks ;)

Another thought, to help keep costs down. Does any locals know any place that does Happy Hours? I remember I was able to negotiate two free platters and happy hours at the London event.

Happy Hours are not legal in Scotland. Different licensing laws up here. Sorry.

The Wash is usually full of students. The Advocate is nice pub. hunter Square is basically on the Royal Mile.
Shakespear pub is opposite my work on Lothian Road so handy for me if I can escape. Fingers crossed the Scottish Government announce a new tax rate change on Tuesday for stamp duty and I might not need to work that weekend! Back to pub, it's ok. It's a bit Wotherspoony is you know what I mean by that.
Jekyll and Hyde pub on Hanover Street have a function room in basement and will give free nibbles if there is enough people. I can't remember offhand what the number is. It is ok during day, gets a bit messy at night.

They all sound good to me and I'm with you that I'm going for the company more so than the food. I'm happy anywhere and thanks so much for researching all the venues. o/

Platform 5 is at Haymarket train station at the west end of city centre, so probably not handy for the things you want to do. Not heard anything about it so can't comment on food etc.
The ones in Leith are ok if you tie in with the Britannia trip.

Thanks alythonian for your helpful input.

Perhaps we could go to the Jekyll & Hyde to carry on with the ghost theme, if we are doing the ghost tours! :P Seems like they have lots of offers too. Good reviews from my fellow yelpers, http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/jekyll-and-hy ... l+and+hyde such as "This pub manages to strike that perfect balance between Adam's Family kooky, goth-punk slick, quality food and drink (for a rather reasonable price), and an atmosphere that is comfortable for family but relaxed enough for friends on a weekend out."

Thanks for the thumbs up on on the Advocate, alythonian. Seems to have good reviews from my fellow yelpers too http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/the-advocate-edinburgh "NIce and clean, good menu", "service was good, pub was nice and warm for it being a cold afternoon and the beer was cold". "cosy and good for an afternoon of munch and drink." "Definitely worth a visit if you're passing through". "Check it out, I'd wager you'd not be disappointed." are some of the comments.

Please can we have a vote? You can pm me if you like.

Sorry but we don't think we can come. I really would have enjoyed meeting up again and having fun with all of you. Things have cropped up and I just cannot make it this time.
