Shame they never do free tickets for the big musicals with SFF
They tend to get rid of any remaining tickets by offering £10 tickets to ticketing websites (like lastminute.com, seetickets etc) or combine them with a restaurant as a meal deal.

I didn't hear that great things about Betty Blue Eyes.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rock of Ages and Matilda in October.

Ohhh Matilda is opening in October too? I didn't know of this yet, but would love to see it. I am very much looking forward to Rock of Ages too :D Did you know that the first few weeks (September) tickets will start at £15 for that one?

As there is no show currently at the Shaftesbury theatre, I was never able to visit the box office during their limited opening hours. I finally gave up and b*ght £20 tickets on lastminute.com to make sure I got the date I wanted.

I was so pleased when I heard Matilda was moving to the West End. I'm a Tim Minchin Fan. :D

Tickets are cheaper if you book through the RSC: http://www.matildathemusical.com/

Betty Blue Eyes is amazing. It's such a shame it's closing. I've seen it twice and would def recommend it. You can get £10 tickets through Lastminute.com and you have a very good chance of being upgraded.

They're also £15 (and not booking fee) on lastminute.com, something to keep in mind for the future :) £20 is really good though. When are you going? I'm seeing it the second week of October as my mum will be visiting then, haven't booked the tickets yet though.

Thanks very much for the Matilda link, and it's a musical too, eee! Love musicals. I don't know Tim Minchin myself but I have heard of him from friends who like him.

Thanks for the rec, I'll make an effort to go see it! How do you get upgraded?

It's just a matter of luck. If the show isn't selling the theatre closes the upper tiers (balcony and grand circle) and moves ticket holders into better seats for no extra cost when they arrive at the theatre. Betty Blue Eyes has only been performing to 50% full audiences so you will almost certainly get an upgrade - unless you go on a Saturday which tends to be better sold.

I'm going to the matinee on 1st October. I wanted to go on the 8th but I think there was no availability left.

Re: getting upgraded. Sometimes theatres close the upper/dress/royal circle if they haven't sold sufficient tickets and push everyone down to the next level. You don't need to do anything. The ushers at the theatre would tell you to visit the box office if you have been upgraded to better seats.

Thanks guys!

On a different note: I'm looking into tickets for Wicked, does anyone have tips for getting good deals? I have gone with the £15 tickets on lastminute.com before but obviously the seats aren't the best. One of my friends coming along this time has never seen it and it'd be nice if we can have better seats without having to p*y £50 or more. Any links or tips are welcome, thanks :D

I've seen Wicked from the £15 seats a few times and the view is fine. There aren't really any bad seats in that particular theatre. If you look on theatremonkey.com they have seating plans for all the London theatres and also comments on which seats are good and not so good.

A website I often use to find the best deal for theatre tickets is http://www.comparetheatretickets.com/

I had a quick look and they are offering £17.25 tickets for Wicked via ticketmaster which allows you to select your own seats.
