I think it's awful when people take chocolate bars before the film has even started. After, yes, but before, you run the risk of depriving someone who hasn't turned up yet. Totally wrong.

I just want to clarify we did not do this! We stayed until everyone had already left (still foolishly hoping for a Q/A - obviously a private one, just us and George!) and only took the few bars from the empty seats in our row when leaving.

I like to think that people who attend the LFF are more thoughtful and respectful than your average cinemagoer but I guess I was wrong. I was sat next to the most obnoxious couple last night at The Descendants gala (I think I recognised the husband as a minor TV actor). They were talking and giggling at the beginning, he started looking at his mobile phone towards the end (meaning I had to endure a distracting bright light for a while) and, worst of all, she openly laughed at someone behind us who had a bit of a sob during one of the more moving moments. I was so tempted to say something but tend not to bother as I'm never sure how people like that will react, but the fact that disrespectful idiots like that go to the cinema annoys me.

I saw someone being glued to their phone a few rows in front of me towards the end too (possibly the same guy?); extremely annoying as the bright light even reached me a few rows back. I was sitting too far away to tap on his shoulder but I honestly do not understand how people can be so inconsiderate to their fellow cinema-goers. Laughing and making fun of someone because they're moved by a film is particularly appalling.

I agree, it's really rude and it's so irritating that people think it's acceptable to make fun of one another at the cinema. If you can't concentrate on the movie then just f**king go somewhere else.

Any spare chocolate bars left ct? You do know I totally love you, right? :A

I shall give you one if I see you tomorrow. :D

There was someone on their phone during The Descendants in the circle last night too. It is so distracting. You can't help but see the glare out of the corner of your eye.

I saw several people chocolate hunting after the film finished yesterday. :giggle:

Hahaha, so FMUKers not alone in chocolate hunting. Normally, the Queen of taking chocolates afterwards is Beate. I think she rocketed at 25 odd bars at a screening once and I didn't get a single bar.

Only 21! I think the chocolate bars are only at evening gala screenings, but my journalist friend has brought me some from the BFI, she said they there are in big bowls for the press?

I never accused you of anything, c_t, but I saw people doing it and superhero mentioned being a victim of it so it's more common than one might think.
