Well what can I say. The less said the better. I agree with thedude
thedude wrote:Definitely a throwaway nonsense kind of a movie, though I must say I didn’t hate it too much. It did feel like the first episode of some teen drama for the most part, the predictable school bully side story had me yawning, and the thin plot must have taken ten minutes to write.
Two alien species do the old “good vs. evil” story, the bad guys are ugly and they all wear long black leather coats, which must mean they’re evil or something, and conveniently the good ones take the shape of pretty teens, so I guess we should root for them, right?
Some of the special effects were good (glow in the dark body parts!) but they overdid it towards the end with all that cartoonish violence and the shaky camera stuff. Yes, the puppy was cute but you knew instantly that it wasn’t really a dog, so no surprises there. I didn’t care much for the songs used in the film either.
I suppose there’s a good message somewhere in there about standing up for yourself.

4/10 from me.

Here's a view from my friend's daughter who is 15, she says she expected more from Stephen Spielberg! She thought the film was average, story so very familiar, acting was bland, dialogue was dull, and so predictable, there will be a sequel.

i wished i hadn't gone to see it.
Audience was full of loud teenagers which didn't help.

After watching so many movies lately with twists at throughout the film and ones that you had to concentrate on and that mess with your mind... this was really needed. Typical teen movie which did not take much thinking about. Yes it was a bit ridiculous in parts and the cheesy ending comments made me squirm. However all in all I really enjoyed it.. exactly what was needed n a Monday night.
Did nearly have to have a word with the folk sitting next to us for being extremely noisy and inconsiderate whilst eating mounds of crisps.
7/10 for me x

I was not impressed by this. The best performance for me was by the small gecko at the start!

I don't think I can give this movie high marks, but I did enjoy it in a veg out movie kinda way. Yes the plot was predictable, yes the acting was - for the most part - pretty ropey, and yes it did go in for that whole teen angst thing but I did not think it was going to be anything else. Had I gone in expecting great things I would have been disappointed but I went in expecting teenage romance drivel with a dollop of sci-fi and actioner and that's exactly what I got...it was perfect for the end of a long and really bad day at work. A film to switch off to and enjoy the special effects, I'm glad I didn't p*y to watch it in the cinema but it's one that I wouldn't run away from if it happens to be on telly. It's a bit of bland background noise for when I'm at home alone and it does have a decent sound track.
