One of those occasions when, not having had the opportunity to attend myself, I think from the reviews here that they are far more entertaining than the film!

Re: Tower Heist
No free popcorn at Didsbury, though they did say you could get 15% off popcorn using your ticket - though I didnt take them up on their kind offer!!!stephenand wrote:Just back from seen 'tower heist' and they gave you 2 free
bags of popcorn per 2 tickets
I dont understand why some screenings give you the freebie and some dont, you would think they would be consistent.

Re: Tower Heist
I had a really mean VM lady too, maybe their bred that way?
We basically got there dead on 6, so we went up, she barely looked at the ticket and said, sorry you have to come back a 6.30, then i went to explain how its usually 6, for 6.30, no matter who the preview is with, and she cut me off and yelled 6.30, come back at 6.30...
SO we waited for about 30 seconds right next to the entrance for a guy to come up and say, why arent you letting people in?
And she said, excuse me? the ticket clearly states 6.30!
And he said, yes thats the film START, we need people in there first.
Should have seen the look on her face when she looked back to me and had to utter the words "My apologies"

made my day!
Popcorn was a nice surprise however we got the standard sweet(where was our toffee??
) and the security guard was quite funny, whilst inspecting my bag he saw my samurai umbrella, and said oh god a samurai sword, well at least it cant record but if you start chopping peoples heads off ill have to escort you out.
As for the film, I thought the jokes were few and far between :S
I LOVED the maid, and eddie murphy was back on form(if not like he was in his better years) but besides that all the other actors felt wasted.
I didnt really see the point in two of them :S
And tbf the whole reason behind the entire film(the fraud itself) wasnt entirely explained in full depth, and the ending seemed very rushed, even though I did like
the parcels of gold car parts and the doormans amazement at the ferrari steering wheel was incredibly cheesy
I'll give it a 6/10, sort of on par with how I felt about johnny english :S
Funny but not funny, sometimes good, sometimes bad :/

Re: Tower Heist
I was quite apprehensive about seeing this (the free popcorn swung it!) and I thought this was going to be my worst film of the year, but no (it's still the appalling Attack the Block), it was pleasantly average, and also beat quite a few of the horrendous romcoms I've had to suffer this year.
Again, since VM have changed the way they allocate tickets, this screening was well less than half full(it was in Liverpool). It was also the first time I've been asked for id, luckily I had some or another 2 bags of popcorn would've been wasted!

Re: Tower Heist
that could sound like discrimination then if no one else was asked and it was only you. Or certain types of groups? If that is the case it would be a point I would raise.a_person wrote:I didn't mind her asking me for ID at all. Just not sure what the rudeness was all about. I didn't see anyone else getting ID'd so would love to hear from others who were at Greenwich whether they were ID'd or not as that's a bit unfair if it was just me.![]()
You should had asked him to show you.a_person wrote:I think he was lying as it just looked like a torch to me and funnily enough once the movie started he only came back to switch on the torch to show people where to sit
