I currently can't get enough of Jodi Picoult's books. I've read a number of them before but I am reading them again and the ones I haven't read before. She touches on so many subjects that you don't often find in books and she writes with such honesty from all her characters. Can't get enough!!!

i've neglected to mention i'm trying to write my own book, i say trying, it's only because i've not written anything for over a month as i'm stuck and stressed.

has anyone else here tried or even actually written their own book?

i've just over 42,000 words so about half way through roughly.

I have tried, and ending up in the same situation, due to college and uni, I had to stop, but ive been slowly working out kinks in my storyline here and there :)
you just have to keep at it and not work yourself too hard
in the end the book will write itself :)

I'm seriously impressed, what are your stories about or is it a secret? I have no imagination at all so wouldn't know where to start.
I've just started to read Nothing Last's Forever by Maureen Lee; it's a lovely gentle book based in Liverpool where you feel real affection for the characters. She's quite similar to Maeve Binchy in her style of writing, very easy reading.

mine's a kids book nothing overly strenuous or clever. it's no harry potter put it that way

Yeah if you writing a book, you shouldnt be tempted to talk too much about it apparantly. My friend is writing his first book and he wouldnt tell me a thing about it! He's my friend for Pete sake! I understand though. When you get a publisher, they do not want any details be leaked out other than their official marketing avenues...I think.

I would love to try write a book, but I do too many things right now so its something way down my to do list.

@Aruif, I love reading childrens books myself, even more than adult ones. Keep at it and good luck with getting it published!

I actually just finished reading one couple days ago. Its called Timeriders. Very enjoyable sci fi horror time travelling thriller. Thats my full description of it. It really has all of those elements in abundance. In fact, I'm surprised its listed as a childrens book because it has quite a bit of bordeline horror in it. Its very fast paced and quite a page turner. Its the first in a series of which 2 more have been published. I recommend it.

I b*ght the children a Roald Dahl box set this week and it included Boy & Going Solo autobiographies of his childhood and early adulthood which I hadn't read before. They read just like one of his stories, I couldn't put them down and read them both in 1 sitting each and could feel my jaw dropping at times. An amazing writer who lead an amazing life.

I've just started reading Martina Cole's 'The Graft' after having received a complimentary copy from SKY1's screening of 'The Runaway' last week. It's the kind of book that doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to honesty about violence and crime and I can't stop reading it at the moment, gripping!

Been b*ying my books on Kindle on my Android phone of recent. I find it very convenient to read books on my mobile, and the Kindle app is very easy on the eye for reading.

I just finished reading the next 2 books of the Timeriders series which I mentioned in my last post. Each one gets better than the last. They are terrific sci fi time travelling thrillers with lots of interesting history to explore and find out more for yourself. There are only 3 books so far in a continuing saga with the next book due in august. I look forward to it. I do love time travel stories so I thought I list some of my favourites in the past, most of which are childrens books!
