Judging by the amount people were b*ying, made me think credit crunch, what credit crunch?????????

Wow you were brave

i'm not a great shopper and as for huge groups of people in those shops

The Next sales are great but when i'm looking for myself, OH and 3 differnet aged children its just a nightmare. I phoned this morning from the comfort of the sofa

Good news everyone I've invented a device that makes you read this in your head in my voice!

I agree - Next on the first day of a sale is a nightmare. I went once and lasted all of 10 minutes before thinking this is so not where I should be and promptly left. Luckily I have VIP priority and was able to do all my b*ying online on Wednesday night! Managed to bag myself some summer dresses for my hols and a few bits and pieces that will be great for the kids.

Here is a photograph of the flood level in Durham City yesterday. The area to the left of the fence is the foothpath and the road. You can just make out the cycle rack where one unlucky soul had left his bike. Today, this rack is submerged as well. The red brick building in the picture is the recently opened Raddison. Three car parks are out of action, and the city is struggling to meet car parking demand.
Just noticed this Andrews, it's terrible

I know it rained here all day and most of the night, and really heavy at times. But from past experience a lot of flooding is caused by blocked up drains, not just by large amounts of rainfall.
Hope it clears soon for you and you are miles away from it all

Crikey! It rained heavily and constantly here yesterday, and I only went out once early in the day, and entrance to the road was nearly flooded. But today, it was fine. (Often it gets worse as the water comes down from the dales.)
I hope this goes down soon - pity the poor people who have come on holiday to Durham just now... And is it graduation time at the University?

That's more like it! It's swings and roundabouts though, for a non-parent: traffic will be lighter for commuting, but the shops/cinemas/tourist attractions will be full of families rather than school parties...
