Looks a lot like the original adaptation, I do fear that it'll be a slow, meandering and unfocussed film, I'd say "In Fincher We Trust" but, well, look at Benjamin Button, and I'm not a Seven or Fight Club fan either. I'm unsure still.

I always thought that a remake is usually done for something from ages ago, when either couple generations already have no clue about the original.... or the original became the timeless classics again, from ages ago, and it's worth a remake with a huge budget and lots of stars! guess I was wrong ...
I'll probably still go and watch the new one! I remember I got quite into this film and was very anxious to see the next one! Next one was a bit disappointing and the third one was even a bit more disappointing.... but still good! just not as good as the first one!

Anyway I'm a bit surprised they are already doing a remake for it, a bit too early?

the Americans can't stand people not speaking "their" language... but I guess the official line would be "it's not a remake of the movie but a second adaptation of the book"

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is an upcoming English-language thriller film that is the second film based on the Swedish novel of the same name by Stieg Larsson. The first film was the 2009 Swedish-language adaptation. The upcoming film is written by Steven Zaillian and directed by David Fincher. Daniel Craig stars as Mikael Blomkvist, and Rooney Mara stars as Lisbeth Salander. Fincher's film is scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada on December 21, 2011.

I'm more excited about the soundtrack than the film, tbh. Big fan of Trent Reznor.
